Kick Pleat — Local services in Austin

I've read the reviews and hopefully my insight will be helpful as well. I recently purchased a pair of pants from Kick Pleat and had a great experience. I drive an old car ( cars depreciate in value and are not an investment for me) and went into the store wearing my work out clothes. The sales agent I spoke with on the phone recognized my voice and name and guided me with a genuine smile to the pants and was helpful when I had a few questions about the fit and stretch. She even showed me the same pants in the other colors and the other material. While we were talking, I saw another sales rep with a great set of pants on and asked for the name and the other rep, the buyer, and the sales rep that was helping me were all helpful in answering my questions about the pants. They only person that I noticed a "interesting" look from was the model that they were taking photos of and I paid her no attention because the people I happened to be dealing with were great! All in all, I was a bit nervous going in as a woman of color with a short afro in gym clothes but they passed the test of treating me with dignity (which we all deserve) :)

Kick pleat is my new favorite store to shop in Austin! It has great curated items, and the staff was really helpful.

I visited from NYC, and bought a beautiful skirt for a few SXSW cocktail hours I got invited to at the last minute. I was looking for a unique piece - something that could be a good conversation starter at the party, and something I can wear back in the city that I knew wasn't something I'd see often. A way to bring a bit of the breezy fashion to my more structured NYC wardrobe.

This is a long overdue review! Kick Pleat is my all-time favorite boutique for women's (some pieces work for men) clothes, shoes, and jewelry in Austin and beyond. Rush is my go-to design consultant (and now great friend), and he understands my style perfectly. The curated selection of designers, including WP Martin (the proprietor's line), is amazing, and there's not a day that goes by when I'm not wearing at least one piece I've purchased from KP. Thanks to all the KP stylists and curators who have helped me find my unique personal style over the years....
