I found Look + See unexpectedly--I had a few new things that cropped up suddenly and needed to find someone quickly to make sure my eye health was okay (plus both my spouse and I needed an eye exam and to update our prescriptions). Quick wrinkle in this plan: I am terrified of eyes and eye doctors as is my spouse. I checked online and found a few places covered by my insurance; left messages at a few, but Look + See were the only ones who answered their phone. I was freaking out (phobias are super cool) and their staff on the phone were calming and friendly. They got me in for an appointment that day (will wonders never cease?) because they wanted to make sure I was okay. They also have a text system set up if you need to message with them. I was 10 minutes late for my appointment because of traffic issues--I called to let them know ahead of time and they were so compassionate. When I arrived, they walked me in, even letting my spouse sit with me because of my phobia. The staff was phenomenal, walking me through each machine's purpose and talking me through everything. They're high tech as all get out so pretty much all machines were new to me. Dr. Bailey came in and he is just absolutely wonderful--he made me feel so comfortable as he walked me through, even dilating my eyes (an unusual step in this shop as usually they do retinal imaging instead) in a manner that was subtle and comfortable. They also have Dr. Vo's dog on site sometimes, which makes things feel even more therapeutic and relaxing. Dr. Bailey came back in and walked me through a few more exams than laid everything out for me--nothing was wrong and here's how he knew. Just fabulous. Scheduled an eye exam for my spouse and I the next week to update our scripts. On our way out, they sent a personalized email (not autofilled, actually personalized). We spoke to every single person on site at one point or another--everybody was friendly and lovely. We got there for our exam today and again, the same superlative experience and caring people and same excellent care. After our exam, they worked with us to select our glasses and it was the most personalized experience I've ever had. They were incredibly patient as it took me ages to make a glass selection. Their Covid protocols are superb--everybody (Including every patient) is fully masked, nobody is allowed in without texting or calling first, and when shopping for glasses, each pair is sanitized. I cannot recommend Dr. Bailey and Look + See enough. The experience is unparalleled, the staff are so welcoming, and you get to support a local small business all the way through. We adore this place and will go here for a long...
Read moreMy Honest Review: Look + See Vision Care Location: I recently moved downtown and needed a new optometrist. I chose Look See Vision Care based on their positive online reviews. (Kicking myself for not reading the lowest reviews first because I can relate after my experience). Initial Impressions: I don't have insurance and pay cash, which seemed to be an issue from the moment I walked in. They made it clear the amount and asked if I was able to pay the amount. The tech who escorted me to the exam room seemed kind, but as a new patient, I was surprised by how little information was gathered. All I did was briefly mention why I was there—no history, nothing added to my chart. The whole process was so quick, it's hard to believe it was so minimal. Appointment with Dr. Lee: Dr. Lee rushed through the exam, despite there being no other patients in the office. During the exam, she dropped something on the floor, picked it up with her bare hands, and continued the exam without washing her hands or wearing gloves—this was unacceptable and unhygienic. Conclusion of the Exam: The 25-minute exam cost $149, plus $25 for rewetting drops, totaling $174. Dr. Lee's tone felt dismissive when I was leaving, and I kept questioning if it was because I paid cash and I don’t have insurance for them to bill. There was no discussion of future care or annual eye exam protocols. More like “good riddance” you can call if anything happens, make another appointment if you absolutely have to but if not best of luck vibe. The visit felt rushed, and I left feeling dismissed, especially given the difficult day I was already having. Prescription Issue: The person handling my prescription, named Justin, said he sent it to CVS (South Lamar and Oltorf).(I do not recommend getting a prescription filled at that location either/ first and last time for me). After getting stuck in traffic, I arrived at the CVS only to find out the prescription hadn't been filled. When I called back, Justin admitted they forgot to send it, adding to my frustration. When I checked my email for my receipt, I realized he also entered my address incorrectly in the system!! Final Thoughts: The overall experience felt dismissive and unprofessional, particularly as a cash-paying patient. As a single mom with a lot on my plate, I strive to be kind to the world and expect the same in return. The vibe was off, and I will not be returning. I WILL LOOK + SEE for another optometrist closer to me and will be more cautious with reviews, as my experience did not match the positive...
Read moreI visited Look + See late last year. First impressions were positive. Nice space, friendly receptionist. Did the standard eye screenings and scans. Great. I then waited in reception for Dr Travis. I like my frames so I inquired the cost of putting in new lenses. I was pretty sure I needed an updated prescription. They looked at the frames and told me around $800. That’s right, $800 to change the lenses. But, if I bought a new pair of frames the total including lenses would be just $450. Right. So out waltzes Dr Travis. We head back for the standard read the last line exam and then the endless shuffling of lenses to discover I do indeed need a new prescription. I also wear multi focal contact lenses. I was having seeing up close with my old lenses. Well, the newly suggested lenses were worse. Try these ones instead he insisted. Take them home. Give them a week. Then I was ushered out to reception, and off waltzed Dr Travis. Bye. You shouldn’t be surprise to hear those lenses were possibly worse.I did a quick google search on the lenses and brand and BOOM!!! These lenses are not for people with astigmatism. I’ve had astigmatism for 20 years. Dr Travis hadn’t caught that. Top job. So off I went to another optician, taking my newly Dr Travis recommended lenses with me, and within minutes of my exam, “are you aware you have astigmatism?” Well, yes I am. “Well those lenses will not work if you have astigmatism.” Really? Shock. I now have a new glasses and lens prescription. Oh, and I did replace the lenses in my old frames. $350....
