See's Candies — Local services in Austin

It pains me to give a three star review to See’s. It is my absolute FAVORITE place to go for chocolates. My review is not on the actual chocolate- which is delicious- but on the store manager in Austin and the recent lack of availability of certain chocolates. First the manager- I have interacted with this guy twice now and I thought maybe the first time he had had a bad day- but no- this guy is a grouch and does NOT - in any way- understand customer service! I purchased 2 -2lb boxes of chocolates today to the tune of $125.00 and he acted like he was doing me a big favor. No smiles, no thank you’s and worst of all NO CHOCOLATE SAMPLE! I had to buy a small bag of chocolates to satisfy my See’s craving. This guy is not doing See’s any favors. I think they should send him back to “how to treat a customer” school. Now- the supply issue. I’m sure See’s was hit hard by Covid- especially since they are based in California and have to deal with nightmarish bureaucracy! But come on! The new layout has caused all kinds of problems- twice I have received the wrong chocolates from 2 different stores in Utah. Have you ever thought you were going to bite into an orange cream and found a raspberry cream instead? NOT GOOD! I also received caramel instead of a butterscotch square. I don’t care for caramels unless they have nuts in them- which have been out of stock for months! Please See’s- I’m rooting for you, but get...

5 stars for the girl Emily who always helps me and is kind. Unfortunately, as with most reviews, it was a bad experience that prompted this.

I went in today, it was fairly slow. I was grabbing a few chocolates as a treat for some work friends. I just needed a small box. Honestly a bag would've been enough. But Stephen only offered me one pound and 2 pound boxes. I asked for the smaller box option, he loaded up a one pound box anyway, and it came out to over thirty dollars! I was in a rush to get to work, and I didn't have time to wait for him to correct his mistake and there were more customers in the store. It's a candy store. I don't think you need to upsell agressively to make people happy. You're far more likely to make people like me regret even shopping with you.

I don’t go often to this location but, every time I do I always find my favorites and then some. Shelley B has always welcomed me with a smile and her knowledge on the company and products are on point. Growing up in Los Angeles my grandmother loved See’s and quickly the Peanut Brittle, Molasses chips, and toffee-ettes became my go too for years. I love the samples they always give. This year I finally got a hold of the seasonal St.Patrick’s Day Potato. Definitely recommend this place especially if your gifting chocolates or lollipops. They can be pricey as they always have been but, you won’t regret it. They have something for everyone.
