BIG DISAPPOINTMENT 😪
I am just very disappointed with the facility, even with a free guest pass. Seems that most of the cardio equipment has signs posted stating that the equipment is broken or that it is being replaced. Per conversation with members, it's been this way for the last five months.
The "Y" did at one time provide complimentary towels (shower/facial) but no longer since reopening from COVID; they can save money not providing.
Also, even though the gym is open from 05:15am - 9pm, the lap pool, adult jacuzzi, and Sauna have limited hours; 8am-1pm & 4pm-8pm. OMG, they state it's due to no lifeguard but still have posted on a large signs "NO LIFEGUARD ON DUTY" ... crazy, never thought I would ever drown in my own sweat 😓 🙃 in passing, we heard someone requesting to cancel family membership cause the pool area (+jacuzzi & sauna) have been closed for the last 3 mths.
I actually wanted to join based on using the pool and the sauna despite the pricey membership or the extra cost to drive into Avon ... not happening now, and in fact, I'm not even interested in using the additional time on the guest membership.
UPDATE : 02.01.2024 An amazing facility, however, the Sauna must remain open as long as the gym is open. The age requirements state 18yrs old, therefore since responsible adults are only allowed, then adults are able to manage the ability to utilize this valuable asset anytime the YMCA is open. I do see the value if having down time to clean and sanitize the sauna but it should be designated once or twice and not seven days between 1pm-4pm... which during those current designated times, the sauna is not cleaned nor sanitized. So again, keep the sauna open unless it is truly being cleaned...
Read moreI have so much appreciation for the Aquatics staff especially the Aquatics director, assistant director, parent child class teacher, and another young lady who is there almost every Saturday. After a traumatizing first lesson for my daughter back in December, I shared feedback about the lesson through a survey. To my pleasant surprise, someone reached out to me about the experience. From there, the care shown to my daughter and me has been amazing. This team was so apologetic about that first experience and reassured me that was not how their lessons usually go. I wasn’t sure if my daughter would ever become comfortable in the water after that first experience. I was frustrated & sad as a parent who wants to see her children able to safely enjoy pools. This staff has taken the time to engage with my daughter, encourage her at every lesson, and provide me with reassurance. My daughter is now thriving in her swim class. She looks forward to going to class on Saturdays & loves to see the staff especially ‘her lifeguard friend’ (the assistant director). It’s been a complete turnaround and I’m so grateful to this staff. Thank...
Read moreI am not one to write reviews. However, my experience at this YMCA was horrible. I am an avid gym go-er and have been to many gyms over the years. The area to workout near the AB and stretching section is definitely too small and feels like your crowded with people but I was willing to look past that and make the most of the gym. I was working out one evening and saw a group of the staff gossiping and looking at me. I was approached by a worker and she asked me to put my jacket on after the workout I was doing since I had a crop top like shirt on. She said she was okay with me finishing my workout set. I was then approached no later than a few minutes by a woman named Kayla who made an embarrassing scene in the gym, calling more attention to me with everyone watching, and had no reason why she was not saying anything to the men walking around in cut offs. I felt very harassed and embarrassed. She made me leave even though my jacket was already on. I am also a professional in the medical field and felt this was so unprofessional. I ended up cancelling my membership here...
