Cooper's Hawk Winery & Restaurant Avon location...I was beyond disappointed today!! Let me start with a little preface... it's Friday night, my kids are both going to their friend's house and won't be here for supper and it's just hubby and I. I thought it would be nice to not fix supper for a change and order a good meal while I stayed in and watched basketball and wrapped xmas gifts. I've been working outside all week and didn't want to venture out into the cold and madness so DD it was. We order Coopers Hawk through DD and after it's all said and done, total was $228 and some change. Dasher drops of food and instantly I could tell by how light the bag was that I was definitely missing some items. Little did I know, I didn't receive ANY of my meals, only the complimentary bread, two desserts, and a can of Coke. First contacted the dasher and he advised he thought the bag was light and even asked the restaurant if there was any more. They assured him that was all of our order, so he brought what they gave him. I called the restaurant, the person that initially answered forwarded me to the manager and all she told me was yes, the order was still sitting at the restaurant, but there was nothing they could do about it. Didn't offer a refund, just told me to re order a $228 order which why tf would I do that?! So I called DD and they initially only refunded me for the missing items, but that still left $98 in taxes and fees and whatever else just kinda out there all willy nilly...and I am NOT paying $98 for complimentary bread and 2 mini pie desserts. So DD decided to refund that, but back to the card which will take 7-10 business days. Point is, even after speaking with the manager, they just said oh well and dismissed me without a solution. This wasn't my fault or the dashers fault, but solely the restaurant's fault and they couldn't care less. Could I have drove down there myself in the cold rush hour traffic to wait on them to hastily remake my food and then fight traffic back...sure, but again, why tf would I do that? Lesson learned, even when you're exhausted, thawing out, and trying to come down with something, just cook your own d*mn food because it's not worth the trouble for mediocrity and horrible...
Read moreTonight was terrible. We arrived at 7:30PM for the reservation. Got seated. Got bread, Got drinks and then it all went downhill. We waited an hour and a halfish for food. By the time it go to the table most of the food was cold.
The short ribs had been sitting at the window long enough for the sauce to be congealed on the side of the plate. They were luke warm verging on cold.
The plain hamburger was cold. Cold cold. She ate it anyway as theres no way I'm waiting a half hour longer.
The steak was even cold. Started out luke warm and within less than 3 minutes or so it was just cold.
Kids pizza and fries came out hot.
Kids mac and cheese was cold enough to be stuck in the bowl so when we smacked it onto the plate it just fell into a little mac and cheese mold -_-
My Leonard burger was hot. Plate was hot. Not as tasty as the last time but it never got cold as I was hungry enough it got scarfed down in minutes. They didn't get the right fries tho but thats minor at this point.
The kitchen staff severely let the waiting staff down tonight. I know its mothers day but they even forgot the table it went at and didn't even have the right number. I put that on the kitchen staff at that point with how scatter brained they seemed to be. The waitress was good. It wasn't her fault everything went downhill so I was sure to let her know that and tipped pretty fairly all considered. I'm sure it makes their job harder when the kitchen is constantly failing.
Manger tried his best and tried to give them a stern talking to but they seemed pretty laid back, no rush no drive no determination just.. slow. And it's a shame as we had lunch there a few weeks ago and it was perfect. Everything was perfect. Hot. Fresh. Tasty. Great waitress and everything. Then the hour and 10 minute drive back home wasn't very pleasant tonight.
They did comp the meals that were wrong. So I'm happy they made it right. I just wish it didn't take nearly 2 hours. I'd be fine with a wait if it was just busy but tables that got here 30 minutes after us and even got cleaned off, got their food 30 minutes before us as well. And when we got the food it was clearly sitting somewhere for some reason for too long. It was a very chaotic and...
Read moreI have always wanted to try this place up on 96th street. When it was being built in Avon I was so excited. My friend Rene and I were going to get Christmas lunch at a breakfast spot. Instead we decided to come here, and they opened at 11am. I was so excited to get dressed up. It's not a fancy place, but upscale. When sitting down they give you a sample of their bourbon barrel red wine available in February. Only wine members have access to order this wine in February. To become a member you can order 2, 3 or 4 bottle case with a discount.. plus you get points for any food you eat, and a 10% discount when you order food to go. Another members perk is that you can turn in your bottles for something you like. I absolutely loved the pinor gris and white blend. Very, smooth white wine. Not sweet and not bitter. I loved this place so much I joined the club. I ordered the chicken parmessam, stewed tomatoes, and a wine butter sauce (definitely needed more sauce dry at the bottom) the cheesy potatoes came as a side really good potatoes. I also ordered a caesar salad so fresh, green, fresh cheese, and lemon dressing. I was going to get the lobster bisque I got to taste it before ordering and it was very flour. I have had lobster bisque so many times, this was not good. My friend order the jambalaya. I got to taste it and it was amazing. The sauce, sausage, chicken and shrimp with rice. I would definitely recommend this dish hands down. They have a limited edition for club members only on their February release wine. Order in January. I can't wait to go back there with a date. Also, you can have your monthly bottle of wine brought to your table to drink while having your lunch or dinner. I forgot 1last thing, you get this really good hot homemade bread and butter. It's like a pretzel bread. The average cost for a meal is...
