MANAGEMENT BLAMING CUSTOMERS FOR PLANTING COCKROACHES
I will start off my honest review by stating that I’m not one to complain about any home rentals I book for vacation. This experience has been one of the worst I’ve ever had.
To start off, this place is not what it seems. Me and four girls booked a home in Frisco NC OBX, trusting the pictures and reviews of a cute water front cozy cottage. When we arrived, this rental was not as clean as advertised. To begin, all the ceiling fans and air vents in every room had layers of dust. The lamp shades over the kitchen counter were also covered in thick layers of dust. Which is also not limited to the visible mild on the ceiling. The furniture and throw pillows had visible questionable stains.
It only gets worse. The first night we were there, we discovered cockroaches. EVERYWHERE inside the house. They first started appearing in the first floor room, in the couches, on the furniture, crawling on kitchen tables, and on the rugs. Then we started to discover them in the ceiling recessed lights, bathrooms, multiple dead cockroaches in the air vents, many of them seemed like they were there for a very long time. Mind you, the AC has been continuously circulating throughout the house, spreading all the cockroach dust for us to breathe.
Upon making multiple discoveries I reached out to the Vacasa management because this is a health hazard that needed to be taken care of immediately. Vacasa management asked for picture evidence that we provided. The response we received is that they filed the issue and that someone will be coming to check the situation out and asking if we were okay with them coming to the home while we were staying there. Without hesitation I responded to absolutely come to the house. Unfortunately, they ghosted me and didn’t show up.
On the morning of check out, since nobody responded or showed up to the house, I reached out the management again. Their response, we were the ones bringing the cockroaches inside, accusing us of leaving doors open, and also said that the cleaning crew did not see any cockroaches and that the house was THOROUGHLY inspected pre-arrival, despite the evidence provided. Before leaving back home, we were having breakfast in the kitchen, and a cockroach was crawling under the countertop to the top where we were sitting. I took another video and sent that to them which I received no response to.
Don’t get me wrong, this rental house had great potential, it is something that has a homey feeling, but unfortunately it’s not cleaned and not well taken care of. My greatest disappointment is how unprofessional Vacasa has been towards this situation and would not accommodate to our request.
In the future I will not be booking with Vacasa rental...

Our stay at this property was a nightmare from start to finish. We were unable to enter the house at the scheduled check-in time because the cleaning crew was "running behind" and needed more time. When we finally got in, the house was filthy. We spent several hours cleaning it ourselves, finding trash on the floors and stains on the carpet. Not a single room had been vacuumed, and the vacuums on the property were broken. All surfaces were dirty with either crumbs, dust, and or spills of some sort (sticky). Outdoor sink was clogged with fish scales. None of the bathrooms had functioning toilet paper holders. No water pressure on 3rd floor in kitchen or master bathroom.
The kitchen was unusable with pots and pans rusted beyond use. Multiple pieces of furniture were broken and unusable. The main fridge/freezer on the 3rd floor broke down, and we were told there were no loaner refrigerators available. The first-floor ice maker was also broken. When a loaner fridge did become available, over 24 hours after the original fridge broke, the maintenance crew refused to place it on the 3rd floor where the kitchen is. We were without a fridge or freezer in the kitchen for more than half of our stay.
Communication was non-existent. Service people came and went as they pleased without informing us of their schedule, which was very off-putting and unprofessional. The linen company rummaged through our belongings twice without notice, throwing our things around. The maintenance team did not call us back at all as they were out of the office from Tuesday through Friday. The fridge broke on Tuesday.
The outdoor areas were equally hazardous. Exposed nail heads on the decking cut our children's feet. The pool was falling apart, with tiles in pieces around it and cracked coping, making it dangerous to walk around. The pool plaster was crumbling, and the hot tub had exposed rusty nail heads where the neck cushions were missing. Rusty nails were used as "towel hooks" on the fencing around the pool. The grill was left disgusting, full of water and grime. There were multiple wasp nests in living spaces.
The property was a giant hazard. We were unable to find another place to stay as everything in the area was booked.
The only welcome we received was from the local raccoon. Not a single VACASA person was helpful.

Read moreI've always been taught to start off with the positive. I loved getting texts from Vacasa leading up to our trip. The day before our arrival, we received a text with pertinent information to be able to access the home. The day of the arrival, we received a text granting us a FREE EARLY CHECK-IN, which was wonderful since we arrived 2 hours early. When we walked in the home, it was clean and smelled great; however, in the kitchen skylight, we noticed something odd. Turns out it was a BAT...a LIVE BAT. We immediately contacted Vacasa via phone and they said they would contact the local staff immediately. They asked me to text a pic and I did. Almost an hour later, there still was no contact nor resolution, so I texted for an update. They replied immediately that unfortunately there was no update. I stressed to them how urgent this was since bats carry multiple diseases. We didn't unpack in case they had to relocate us to another home. I asked them to have the local staff call my cell, and they said they would. Now we're 2.5 hrs into the bat situation, and still no response or resolution. I texted again because it was starting to get dark, and bats wake up in the dark. After some time passed, I texted again and asked if we called a company to remove the bat for us, would Vacasa cover the expense. They replied, but their response didn't make sense. I told them I didn't understand, and asked them to call me. No call received. Finally, 3.5 hours from our arrival, we had to take matters into our own hands and risk our own safety to remove the bat ourselves. I informed Vacasa of this, and their response was 'My apologies'. That was day 1. Day 2: the carbon monoxide sensor began alarming. I was going to contact Vacasa, but my husband said with all of the difficulties we had on Day 1, he would study the sensor to see if he could fix it on his own. It resulted in being a problem with the batteries, that we again had to fix ourselves. Day 3: we were awakened by a loud explosion that morning and noticed that the power was out. We notified Vacasa via text and they replied immediately. Power was restored about 4 hrs later. The Day 3 situation was no fault of Vacasa, but by this time, we felt snake-bit. Fortunately, the remaining days were uneventful. We enjoyed the home, but weren't impressed with some aspects of Vacasa's problem solving (or...
