Pangea Tavern — Restaurant in Avon

I went there last Tuesday night 09/18 for my Birthday dinner, everything was great except the last 30 minutes of our dining experience. We were sat right away and our server arrived to our table very promptly after being sat, our server was great and so was the food and adult beverages, but a little over half way through our meal our server was cut off the floor and done for the evening, (It was only 730pm at this point, so I don't know how he got cut so early), I work in a restaurant so I understand the joy of being cut off the floor and being done for the day so I was totally fine with him transferring our bill to a new server and I tipped him before he left, but that is when the problem started and caused me to not enjoy the rest of my dining experience. Our new server NEVER came to our table to introduce herself or ask if we needed anything or check on us for more drinks, I didn't even know who our new server was to even ask for another drink or anything, that was so disappointing, then when we went to the beer garden to have a cigarette i stopped a female server and asked if she was our server and she said yes so then I told her we were going to have a cigarette and to please not let anyone bus our table as we are not done yet, came back inside 5 minutes later to a completely bussed table, my boyfriend's adult beverage was thrown out and he was never offered a new one, server just simply didn't care, my boyfriend asked if they do anything for Birthdays and she said nope and handed us the bill, then i asked for a soda to go and our server took back the bill, added the soda to it and that was it. Pretty pathetic that I couldn't even get a free birthday soda to go especially considering my boyfriend's beer was removed from the table when it was accidentally bussed. Only reason I'm giving this place 3 🌟 is because the food really was good and our original server...

Food was good, server was nice and super helpful. But my party had a TERIBBLE experience in our interaction with the hostess this evening (wish I caught her name but she had long blonde hair working on 7/27 around 7pm). Not only was she super unfriendly the moment we walked into the doors, but she told us (party of 6) that there would be NO seating for us. She said she could put us on the waiting list but that there were 3 large parties ahead of us and we would probably not be sat at all. And any time we had a question her only response was "ummmmm" (aka not helpful). We asked her to put us on the waiting list anyways and we would sit in the back (outdoors) in case anything opened up ....we were certain she was totally incorrect in saying that she would be unable to seat us. Lo and behold, 20/25 minutes after waiting out back, we were notified our table was ready. During dinner I noticed this same hostess was seating people THE ENTIRE time throughout our entire dinner experience. Therefore, 1) she was wildly inaccurate with her earlier claims and 2) she had no right to try to turn us away from dining at Pangea Tavern when we wanted to sit down.. clearly she had no issues seating other parties. I am hoping it was this girl's first day on the job as she seemed extremely uneducated. Hopefully she steps her game up ... otherwise, I'm sure there are many other great options for amazing, hospitable, considerate hostesses out there.

This is going to be a bit long. If you want the short version, just go. Regardless of what you get it's delicious. Who cares if there is a wait... Just wait!

We did. Waited. As we were sitting there numerous people leaving kept saying how wonderful their food was. Ohh it was so delicious. That was the best meal. All I could think was "yeah right, not all of these people had a great meal". We get seated. Our server was great. Even when she was busy helping other tables another server would bring our food or check in on us. The teamwork here was phenomenal. Other establishments should take note. Anyways, we order some appetizers. Spinach dip, to be safe for me, and grouper bites. Both soo delicious. The dip was a little, very cheesy but still good.

Now I'm not one who likes fish, seafood, shellfish, any of it. I try and try and it never works for me. The Salmon De Port (something like that) kept calling to me so I figured why not, I'm on vacation right? I ate the whole dang thing! The flavor was wonderful. Even the salmon was cooked perfectly. The risotto, whooa just right! We also got the clams linguini. The sauce was out of this world! I've never tasted something like thag before! I wish we had saved room for dessert.

Needless to say we also left saying how delicious and wonderful...
