I do know this is a teaching facility and the price of the service reflects that and you need to give grace to the students because they are new to their craft.
This review reflects the front desk staff and the poor environment.
Scheduling: when I called to book it was rather chaotic. I asked for a 60 minute facial, the eye treatment with the facial and eye brow wax. The receptionist could not figure out how to book the eye treatment and mentioned that she didn’t think the students could do the eye treatment. I ask “why is this on the service menu if they can’t perform the service?”. She finally figured out how to book it and schedules me. I commented again about the eye brow wax and asked if I should have it before or after the facial and she said she scheduled me for after.
Environment: the facials and massages are done in a big room with a curtain between each “room”. Calling it a room is stretch. I started my facial and the student and customer next to me arrived soon after my services started. They were obviously friends and started chattering away loudly. I expected this to die down as they would be catching up and then starting the service. The conversation escalated and they started sharing VERY traumatic experiments with each other. This is the LAST thing I want to hear as I’m trying to relax having a facial. I opened my eyes and told my girl that I wished they would stop talking, she agreed and said they were talking very loudly. I understand if it’s the customer being chatty but the student was the one instigating conversation and sharing her experiences. I understand there is conversation during a facial related to application/products, this was not the type of conversation. It was very unprofessional.
Service: my girl did drop the facial massage stones on my face by accident and it did hurt but we smiled and it was ok. She was apologetic. I had to ask if she started the eye treatment and she said yes and basically that she had no idea what she was doing. That was apparent because it lasted about 60 seconds and on reviewing my skin everything looks very hydrated and great! My undereyes are still very dry, I don’t even thinks she used any eye cream. I am disappointed in the establishment that they would not train their students on the services they offer on the menu.
Check out: I asked where I should go for my eyebrow wax and they told me that was never scheduled for me and that the class in session right now wasn’t even trained on that yet (as if I was expected to know this). Note, the same girl I talked to on the phone who scheduled me originally was also standing at the desk listening. Then I told the front staff girls the experience with the student/customer next to me and they did not sympathize. They said “yeah that’s the types of girls that go to school here”. What!? Very strange response. I asked if they could do anything about it and they told me they would tell the teacher overseeing the class.
Very unprofessional and no customer service. I...
Read moreI made an appointment for today at 1:15 and called this morning to ask a question about my appointment. Sarahi answered and said I could still come even if we weren’t cutting we could still style my hair. When I got there she said she canceled my appointment. I said I didn’t understand why and she went off on me about bringing my mom with. I previously had a good experience there and had also brought my mom to that appointment where they let her come back with me. I tried to explain my mom has medical issues that makes it difficult to leave her alone. I felt personally attacked and tried to explain my needs but ended up leaving and driving to Tempe where I was treated with kindness, dignity and respect. Never did I express any negative emotions towards this employee nor any other but will not return as long as she works there. I am sending a certified letter to the owner soon. I did leave my name and number for the director and will follow up later to see if she was given the information. Thank you again to Karina who had worked on my hair before for coming out and speaking with me before I left, she is a gem, but Sarahi and Autumn were the very definition of “mean girls”. Sarahi was the only one I spoke with and it was my third call in two weeks where I asked for a partial foil service that she refused to give me. I was shocked by how I was treated. I tried to explain I speak differently since I am not from this area, I sincerely hope no one from New York or Chicago ends up speaking with Sarahi as it may not go well for those clients, just beware of Sarahi and Autumn they lack empathy, caring and compassion. We did agree that if someone doesn’t like you it is not a good idea to have them work on your physical body. Also thank you to Dani and Amber at Tempe’s Institute for making a bad day better. I also got an appointment for my partial foil with someone who is very talented and gifted even as a student. Plus I gave a 40% tip to her for her flawless execution of my hair vision. As a long time customer of Aveda and Avedas Institutes I have never been so disappointed in the lack common courtesy I experienced today with Sarahi and Autumn. Btw Autumn inserted herself into a situation she had no experience with, I am not sure why she would lie to my face and send she was present for all three of my phone interactions with Sarahi when she wasn’t? I am still very confused and offset by how I was disdainly treated. If you feel like crying and being accused of what is happening to you, then please go down there. But higly recommend making your appointment...
Read moreWe have been to this location three times for hair services. Ivy was the first student we came in contact with so she is whom we have requested. She is very considerate and thorough. The first time we scheduled my teen grand daughter wanted to go from blonde to red. Great job. I was so impressed I scheduled to have my hair styled, colored and highlights. Cocoa, (instructor) was present, thankfully. I wanted a shag style hair cut and Cocoa understood exactly what I wanted. Ivy was very patient and quick to request assistance. Awesome. However, my shampoo was the most MISERABLE I have ever experienced. Im disabled. I am in constant pain and my heart LITERALLY hurts or aches almost all the time, especially when putting pressure on my upper back. The sink chairs are broken!!! Some of the sinks do NOT drain. So my chair did not elevate to the sink and essentially I was in a sitting position trying to hang my neck into the shampoo sink but my chair was very low so the base of my skull was leaning on the side of the sink while I tried to keep my head in the sink for Ivy to shampoo and condition my hair.
This was the first time in many years my hair has actually been cut and colored how I wanted it!! I want to go back but NOT UNTIL they fix those chairs!! That is ridiculous!!
My grand daughter returned two days ago to get her hair colored back to blonde and that did not go well. It was not Ivy's fault. There was obviously a misunderstanding on her instructors part. My grand daughter has been sitting in Ivy's chair since 9:30 again this morning getting her hair returned to blonde. It is currently 3:30 pm. This should not have happened.
I gave 5 stars because I am soo happy my hair was finally DONE the way...
