My husband and I just moved here with our newborn from KC and we don’t really know anyone here other than my mom. When we first came to the cafe, we were in an air bnb, we walked in and my first thought was OMG, this place is so darling! The staff is so nice and welcoming, I felt like we were in the cafe of the show friends (a little different setup obviously, but just inviting). Now I know I’m not friends with the staff but when you go in there, it’s like you are, so sweet and attentive. They know the menu unlike some places that have no idea what they sell. Now that my husband and I are in our home, just miles down the road, we make it a point to stop by a few times a month. There are so many details that make the cafe come to life. The decor is very modern boho (hipster if you will) but elegant and charming. The seating is nicely spaced out and they have a cute outside enclosed area to eat at. I think it’s so cool that they have local vendors in their cafe, not a lot of places are willing to support local businesses, so this was the cherry on top. The items are so fun and fresh! The coffee is awesome, we get just cold brew and it’s definitely fresh. Along with the ingredients they use in their food. I’ve tried the biscuits and gravy & although it’s different and not like a traditional B&G, it’s so good. I’ve also had the southwest salad and an egg sandwich, also great! But let me tell ya, the BEST thing on the menu (of course in my opinion) is the chicken salad sandwich. I keep forgetting to take a photo but you can see it in another 5 star review. Soooooo good! I could eat it everyday. The prices are very reasonable, especially for clean and fresh ingredients. I can’t wait to return....

Read moreFirst of all, never would have guessed this place was here! Watched a TikTok and saw this recommendation saying to skip Dutch in the same parking lot and head to New Penny. Soooo glad we did! Had a coffee date with my AZ bestie and drove 1hr to get here from North Scottsdale. My gf is on the westside. Walked in and immediately appreciated the welcoming environment. Very open and spacious with tons of seating including outside on the patio with a cabana-like setup. Super cute. The menu is huge with tons of not only coffee drinks but boozy ones too. I tried a new menu item - the Elote Avocado Toast. Yumm!! It was topped with pickled onion which is definitely a favorite of mine. The elote part of the toast was exactly what I was expecting. I also tried their highly favored Zebra coffee which I got iced. Sooo stinking good that I drank it slowly all morning. I paid for it last night with going to bed later lol, but it was worth it. My gf got a coffee which she also loved and oatmeal which was scrumptious too. The shop inside of local vendors was a lovely touch to walk through especially while you wait. I think everyone in Avondale must stop here because there such a wide range of people from Mom’s brunching with their babies, to grandmas/grandpas, to Firefighters ;). I highly suggest visiting and I know I’ll be back. Maybe next visit we’ll have time to walk the grassy area just outside with the bridge...
