I've been getting glasses here for the last 4-5 years and didn't have a problem until now. I had the in-house eye exam done and picked out my frames, but the girl helping me wasn't happy with the frame size compared to my prescription and kept playing with the measurements. I told her I had zero problem picking new frames, just tell me what size I need. She said no, it's fine, and we finished up.
Picked up my glasses a week later and could tell right away there was something wrong. I expected to not see perfectly and that I'd need time to adjust, but these were WAY off. I tool them home and tried everything to be able to use them. I had those lenses in every conceivable position on my face to see at a distance with no luck.
I brought them back a few weeks later and told a different girl that they were perfect up close, but anything farther away than arm length was blurry. She took them to check and came back and said, "We made them correctly" and just looked at me. I told her something was wrong because I couldn't see at all for distance.
She called over a guy with an attitude who also said, "We made them correctly". After going back and forth, he gives me a paper and says to take it over to the Dr's office, which closed for lunch at that exact moment. He said he'd submit my request for a re-check. I waited almost a week for the office to call me and went back in.
The Dr, who had been previously nice, was all bent out of shape because I couldn't see and it was somehow my fault because "My numbers are perfect". She tells me the Costco lab is always making the glasses wrong and trying to blame her.
I again reiterated that all I want to do is see and I wouldn't be going through all of this if I could do that. She decides to up my prescription by a tiny bit, charges me 20.00 and I go back to the counter.
Now I get the original girl who tells me the new frames I have are smaller than my original. I ask if that is the problem. She has no idea. We go back and forth and they 'do me a favor' and remake the lenses and put them in my original frames (they were still in stock from over a year ago) and I pick those up a week later.
It's been two months and I still can't see distances well enough to read street signs, but I can get around. These lenses also have circles and numbers etched into them toward the center and a friend who used to work in an optical store says that's because they were cut incorrectly. Long story short... I'm never using Costco for glasses or an exam again. Too bad, because I liked their prices, but I NEED to be able to see...

I recently had a frustrating experience at the Costco located on 99th and McDowell that I feel compelled to share. After returning from a trip, I realized we were down to our last diaper for my daughter. Knowing we lived right down the street from Walmart, I decided to send my son to Costco instead, thinking it would be a quick and easy solution.
However, when my son arrived at the store, he was questioned and not allowed to enter without me present. I've been a loyal Costco member for years and have never encountered this issue before. It's baffling that they would stop a member's child from entering when we regularly use our Costco card together. We live in the same household, and he was prepared to pay with our debit card as well.
Feeling frustrated, I called the store and spoke to Gabby, who offered little assistance. All she stated was that the card is not transferable, which I understand, but it feels unreasonable in this context. My son was simply trying to help us out in a pinch!
Afterward, I spoke to another representative who was much nicer and allowed my son entry due to the specific situation, but by that point, I had lost faith in the service. I even called to cancel my membership and request a refund. The hassle and lack of understanding from the first representative left a sour taste in my mouth.
This experience has been disappointing, and Iāve come to the conclusion that itās not worth it to continue paying for a membership if this is how customers are treated, especially in emergency situations. I hope Costco reevaluates their policies around household member access, as this is clearly an issue that needs addressing, particularly at...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThere isn't much to say about Costco that hasn't been said after almost 9,000 reviews (at this location alone), but here's something that drives me (and others, I'm sure) crazy!
Employee carpool parking spots. They're a good idea (assuming Costco still has an active carpool program), just executed/maintained in a terrible way. Every single time I go here there are NO employee vehicles in these spots, which normally isn't a big problem since you could say the same about any special parking spot, but the issue is that the spaces are not marked at all - except for a little sign you can only see once you have already pulled into the spot. I sat nearby enjoying a hotdog and soda, and over that 10 or so minutes I watched 20+ customers pull into those spots and then have to pull back out. One or two started to back out and then decided to stay anyways, and frankly I don't blame them. These spots need to be clearly labeled in a way that you can see what those spots are as you approach them, such as in the spot themselves (similar to disabled wheelchair symbol in the spot itself). Otherwise, hundreds of visitors a day are driving up and down rows just to finally pull into a spot and have to pull out of it and start again. A hazard. I always see multiple people almost back into each other as they try to get back out, as the car behind them did not expect them to need to immediately come back out again. This is no different from leaving a set of stairs uneven and allowing customer after customer to stumble. This is probably a Costco corporate issue, but it's up to local staff to send...
