So, we hate to give this a 1 BUT here is why. We used to live here in Az and we and family have gone here for years, we came back into town and after a a couple of years and decided to go with parents yesterday afternoon. We got our normal table, our waitress was Brina, who seemed rushed a little irritated and unwelcoming (we ignored it, figure people have rough days). We got our drinks from her and then took our order and she disappeared. We sat joyfully then my mom needed some tea because coughing and we wanted some lemons, and there was literally no one to be found to ask, no Brina and no other waters or waitresses....we waited and waited, finally a young water passed and I asked for our waitress and He went to search and came back, and asked did we know the name of the waitress, which we didn't at the time, Sense we waited so long my husband just asked him to get us some lemons. We had a different waiters come and give us lemons. Then we ask that way dress to give us some tea, which she kindly brought, then a different waiteress came with our meal a few several minutes later, in the background we heard somebody say thank you to him for bringing our meal to us finally. My husband asked about his grown up grilled cheese sandwich on how long had it been sitting under a lamp because you could tell it had been sitting and it was luke warm. Our double decker sandwich was on burnt sour dough also. We did not complain because there was really no one to complain to after the server left the table and again no 1 around to be found. We need napkins and a refill but had no one ever come to ask if we needed anything. We finally got up off the table and walked over to the front to grab more silverware that was wrapped with napkins to use those napkins because no one ever came to us. (TABLE OF 4 BY THE WAY) finally some one came passed by and my husband asked for a refill and I mentioned why we have so many different servers and where was our waitress. We were then told she was on break. my husband could see her on other side of room sitting rolling silverware...hmmm. for quite a while, the whole time we are waiting for help and getting up to get our own napkins. As many times as we have come for years, servers always tell us they are going on break and who will assist us while they are gone. This didn't happen this day. So again we waited and waited for our desserts that "Brina" had taken when we ordered. We again had to search for someone to stop and get our pies, which one waitress got. By the way, Brina still nowhere to be found! Guess who shows up with our pies and an extra pie :/, Brina! Stating that they gave an extra pie, no reason, just "they" gave it. Anyhow, by this time we were upset and really didn't care for the pie or Brina's service. We ended up getting a box from another server again, paid, left no tip and my Mom went and physically gave a to one server that had at least tried to help us. This was a horrible experience. And we like Village Inn, we will go back because we have always gone, but this was upsetting...

Read moreIf it weren't for their incredible pies I'd never go back. My employee prefers pie to cake and for his birthday I like to buy them a special treat! Everyone knows VI has the best pies. So, I called ahead and ordered 2 pies for pickup later the same evening. The call itself was great! There was a dedicated pie hot line even. The employee that answered the phone was sweet and professional. She assured me that there would be no issues having my 2 pies ready for 6 hours later and that if they ran into any unforeseen issues they'd call me. I arrived at the restaurant at 7pm and the parking lot looked pretty barren. Walked in and not an employee in sight. For like 6-7 minutes I stood there not seeing one single employee. There were a few tables of guests eating. Finally an employee passed by and asked if I'd been helped. I told her I was there to get my pies and she immediately found my ticket. But, no pies had been pulled and none of what I ad ordered were in the case. She went to the back to look and another employee came up to break it to me that they couldn't fill my order because it was pie Wednesday and her manager tells them to fill the free pie orders for patrons coming in as a priority to phone orders even if the phone order came first. Ummmmmmmmm what??? Nobody told me this. I asked if I could have paid ahead and was told no. But apparently there's an online order system so maybe if you do it that way?!?! So calling in a pie pick up order does you no good at all whatsoever. It's a crapshoot and anyone's guess as to whether they'll have thay pie when you arrive anyway. Wouldn't you just box the ordered pies and put a picking ticket on them to reserve them? They were not busy, at all. What kind of customer...
