I go in to hobby lobby all the time for my home decor and supplies for my DIY projects. Everytime I go in I notice employees get bothered when asked for any help so I usually don't bother. Today I asked an employee for help with a price because they always have the 50% off signs on shelves with many diferent items on it and as a customer it's hard to tell which items on the shelf are part of that 50% off. Long story short the employee could have easily walked over two feet from where she stood to look at the sign but instead she just brushed me off with a attitude filled reply of "if the sign is in front of it it's 50%off" I asked her again to walk over and look and she said she knew that specific item I was holding was on sale that week. When I went to pay the item was not on sale. I let the cashier know of what the sales associate had said. Trying to help the cashier called over his manager (Cathy). I didn't ask for a manger nor was I wanting the price lowered I actually had a 40% off coupon I planned on using if the item wasn't on sale. The cashier was just trying to help and show that there was helpful employees that cared about the customer. But unfortunately Cathy the "manager" made me feel even worse than the sales associate had before with her response and actions. While I was telling her what had happened Cathy had the biggest smile on her face basically holding back laughter as if her employer being so rude was something to laugh at. Not once did she say sorry for her employees actions or ask which employee it was. I could have walked over to show her which employee had "helped" me but she didn't care to know who it was. Instead she just replied "well mam' the item isn't on sale maybe it will be nect week" I let her know how rude she was being by basically laughing as I told her the story of what had happened and told her I didn't want a discount I just felt like she as a "manager" would be interested to know how disrespectful and unwilling to help her sales associate was. I wasn't yelling or being speaking to her in any rude or disrespectful manner when she answered "the item still isn't on sale and I can call over another manager of you feel like if I'm taking this as a joke" before I could even say anything else she had already turned around and walked away. The cashier then apologized for his managers actions. It's so upsetting that the employee had to apologize for his managers actions because even he saw how rude she had been. I have since written an email to the cooperate office and will be writing to BBB next. I am hoping to receive a response from cooperate so I can tell them the full story of my experience. I love hobby lobby and their wide selection and I am saddened that I do not plan...
Read moreI was extremely excited to finally have a Hobby Lobby in Bakersfield, I had been dying for us to get one for over a year now. Each time I've gone they've been very, very busy which is to be expected for such a great store. The prices vary, some things are a bit expensive but other things are amazing for the amount, quality and price. I really do like this store, there are just a few things that I dislike about it and that I want to warn others about.
1.) They DO NOT use scanners. The cashiers have to input the item numbers by hand, so every single item you buy they have to put the numbers in by hand and then do it again if its on sale. It takes forever and makes the lines very long and very slow. I really hope they do put in some scanners because it would make things a lot better for everyone. I have been told that the reason they do not have scanners is because the company would rather higher 3 more workers than have scanners. Oh and I will also add that my friend in Oklahoma says that the store near her has scanners.. so.. what's the deal Hobby Lobby? Stop being cheap and install some scanners!
2.) Handicap people are pretty much screwed if you can't walk around very well. The store is HUGE, it takes up pretty much the whole building and they do not have many wheelchairs(I think they have one, maybe two?) and have zero electric carts, the isles are big enough for those wheelchair(s), they are big enough for electric carts.
3.) Some of the staff lack in experience. I had a young lady who was cutting my fabric one day and she didn't know how to properly hold her scissors, she was cutting the fabric all wrong and I'm not saying I am a professional, but I could have done a better job than she had done.
I think that about sums up my dislikes and complaints for this particular Hobby Lobby. Other than these few things, like I said previously, the store is pretty good. But, I highly doubt that it will close down any of the other craft stores like people had been saying.
So, good luck if you go shopping there and I hope you have a ton...
Read moreThe WORST Customer Service in town!!! Let me begin with the fact that my sisters and I have spent hundreds in this store redecorating our homes this year. Everytime we would ask for assistance the sales floor workers were rude and reluctant to help. Recently my sister was literally accused of stealing by the cashier and assistant manager simply because she didn't have the receipt with her and even though a customer that entered the store behind her confirmed that she had brought the items in from her vehicle after she saw the embarrassment they were putting my sister through. The lady even left the store very upset after telling the assistant manager that the way my sister was accused of stealing and being treated was out of line, unfair and unprofessional. We also spoke to the Supervisor at the time whose name is Bree to complain about being accused of stealing and overall treatment of the staff and instead of an apology and her taking matters to the situation she completely ignored our complaint and went on about why they couldn't return or exchange the items in a dismissive and arrogant manner even after I had told her that I felt that she was completely disregarding our complaint. Her entire rude demeanor and discriminative behavior left us feeling humiliated, embarrassed and very angry to see that a home decor store is not exempt from the judgement and hate in the world these days. I refuse to let this slide as if it never happened. I will be sure to report this to the Better Business Bureau, email the Hobby Lobby board, spread the word all over social media and share my review and experience everywhere I can. This will not go unnoticed and swept under the rug!!!...
