The Spa at The Ivy — Local services in Baltimore

I had a massage today at the Ivy with Taquita and it was one of the best massages of my life! The space was clean and beautifully designed and having valet service was a real relief. A note about gratuities: Gratuities (and valet) are included in the cost of spa services, but when I asked what the gratuity was, I was told it was "a percentage", and when I asked very directly if the staff would tell me what that percentage was, I was told no. I've never encountered this practice before! Leave a note if you have, I'd truly like to understand it. Maybe it's a good policy for staff, but it rubs me the wrong way as a guest. Every aspect of my experience felt so personalized, genuine, and relaxing. Every staff member I encountered, from the valet, to the spa director, to the spa staff, greeted me be name upon arrival and made me feel so welcomed and comfortable. I did the Petite Retreat massage and facial, and both services were amazing. Trenise, who did my massage, was so thoughtful and took everything I said in our pre-massage consultation into consideration. The pressure level was spot on and she made sure I stayed relaxed throughout the service. Eve (facial) made my skin feel so refreshed and rejuvenated. We just spent a 4 day babymoon at the Ivy and it was the perfect cozy getaway! The staff went above and beyond - James, Calvin, Janelle, Theresa, Anthony and everyone else were so kind and accommodating! Highlights of the trip include: cozy hotel room with fireplace best omelette we’ve ever had the grits - wow the Spa - double wow drivers were able to take us everywhere we wanted to go within the 3 mile radius (which is as far as you need to go to explore Baltimore) I can’t say enough good things about this hotel and the stay!
