To say we’re grateful for finding Calm on Command K9 would be an understatement. I finally pulled the trigger and put our 5 year old Pit Onyx back in training and honestly it’s been the best money I’ve ever spent. I was fortunate to find them with a quick google search, something I had done time and time before. While I had reached out and spoken to other trainers none of them felt right or some just flat out didn’t respond. Rosie and RJ responded right away and set up a phone call to take the time to learn about Onyx, about the behaviors we were concerned about, and explain their training program in detail. They made it seem possible that our anxious dog could be calm and were very convincing that it was time to just go for it and they were right. Onyx had become more people and dog reactive in the past few years. Him meeting new people out during walks or coming over to our home would be met with consistent barking. Getting him to adjust to someone new was an ordeal that we began to just avoid because of the stress of it all and the time it took him to calm down and be comfortable. Walking past other dogs had become automatically growling and barking. Strangers who would talk to us just saying a simple hello or asking for directions would be met with growling and barking. There was consistent barking in the home when he would hear any little noise or knock. Onyx was just consistently on edge the majority of the time which at times would even lead him to react towards us. Seeing the change in just the 7 weeks we’ve worked with Rosie and RJ was insane. We were truly in awe of how quickly Onyx warmed up to them and learned. Onyx has learned so much and is able to heel during walks, lay down in public areas and stay put, adjust to strangers or new people with more ease, and overall be able to trust that we’re in control of situations so he doesn’t have to be. Shifting that power dynamic was huge for us, while difficult in the beginning with how that shift came about it has been well worth having a calm and comfortable dog. We’re also grateful for the amount of knowledge they’ve given us and how they trained us to be more consistent and disciplined dog parents. While dropping old habits and style that was only contributing to the behaviors we wanted to change. So if you’re looking for solid dog trainers I’d definitely say you found them. Added some pictures of Onyx placing indoors and staying put and calm with all the people around him. Literally something we didn’t even think was possible.

I can't say enough good things about RJ & Rose. I was left with two Rottweilers after my son suddenly passed away. My daughter took Ruckus, a 13 year old male, home with her, but I had no immediate takers for Fitch, a young female. My son, Tommy, had acquired Fitch from a friend who was going to send her to the animal shelter because she had snapped at a child. My son, a lifelong Rottweiler lover, couldn't let that happen because he knew she'd be euthanized. He worked with Fitch for about 9 months before he passed. She never snipped at Tommy but was not so affectionate with visitors. She would snip at hands, not really biting, but never knowing what the potential could or would be. I found RJ & Rose after some internet searching and received a recommendation from the friend of a friend. They met Fitch at my son's home. We took her for a walk during the first meeting. At the 2nd meeting, they took her for a ride in their truck (something I would have been afraid to do). I saw how loving but firm they were with Fitch. They gave her the attention and structure she desperately needed. She walked on the treadmill, went to cafes, went on bike rides. We were amazed at her transformation. I saw RJ rub Fitch's face and kiss her on the head. Check out their Instagram page - there are lots of videos of Fitch - before and after. Aside from the tremendous training, I can't thank them enough for their support during an extremely difficult time. Fitch wasn't spayed, so they helped me take her to get spayed - all three times (that's another story). They even helped me find an amazing adoptive family for Fitch, providing training and support to the couple during Fitch's graduation. Fitch had a rough 2 1/2 years. She was crated for long periods of time before her original family gave her up. She lost the only loving owner she knew 9 months later. RJ & Rose gave her a chance to be the dog we knew she could be. And for that, Tommy and I thank you. (Rose & Fitch - 2nd meeting) (Tommy and Fitch) (Tommy and Ruckus)

I CANNOT recommend Rj enough! If you are on the fence about sending your pup to boot camp, or if you feel hopeless and out of options with your dog, I implore you to go to Rj. You WILL NOT regret it! Here is Nigel's and my story: My boy Nigel did a 5 week bootcamp. I drove Nigel all the way from Washington state for it and it was so 100% worth it. When I first rescued Nigel he had extreme anxiety that translated to severe leash reactivity. His fears and nervousness continued to escalate despite all my attempts to help him out. I tried multiple trainers (one trainer even said Nigel’s struggles were not fixable and I should just figure out how to live with them), different medications, and even a visit to a behaviorist, but nothing was helping my boy. I was heartbroken for him as it was abundantly clear he couldn’t even enjoy normal dog activities without working himself into a tizzy. It became increasingly hard to even venture out of the house with him. I was emotionally exhausted and racked with guilt about Nigel, as he spent the majority of his time confined to the house and yard. The turning point came I made the decision to send Nigel to Baltimore for Rj's bootcamp! Rj is an absolutely amazing and kind soul who not only completely understands the minds of dogs and how to reform even the most severe cases, but he truly cares about them and treated Nigel like family. When we went to pick Nigel up, I was blown away by my boy. Nigel has a new sense of purpose, he is happy, he is calm, the anxiety that constantly plagued him is virtually gone thanks to the relationship Rj has helped cultivate between Nigel and me. Rj’s bootcamp was truly life changing for Nigel and me—all I wanted before this was to be able to take Nigel on a simple walk like any other dog parent. Don’t give up, y’all—you can have the relationship with your dog that you want if you just find the right place to get some help. And for that, I can’t thank Rj, or recommend ZenRj training, enough!!

I will tell you that 5 stars are simply inadequate for reviewing Zen Rj Dog training! In fact there are not enough stars in this galaxy to reflect how completely thrilled we are with the work RJ has done with our sweet dog Rajah. Our initial plan was to do one on one training with me and Rajah and Rj, as he had a lot of commands down. I had been working with him every day since we got him. HOWEVER, after the 2nd lesson, I decided to do the boot camp. BEST DECISION EVER!! We now have a dog I can and do, take everywhere, and the first thing people say is how well behaved he is. It is a fabulous feeling to take your dog out knowing he is going to do as you say and not misbehave. Awesome recall, calm on command, does as he is asked and lies down quietly for as long as I tell him to. He is still just as sweet, no change in personality. I have learned the true meaning of how to be the best pack leader I can to him. Rj teaches you and your dog much much more than just commands, but truly how to communicate with your dog, and lets your dog understand what you expect of him. He helps you understand and avoid the common mistakes that we people often make with our dogs, because we love them, but then provide the recipe for misbehavior by not setting the appropriate limits and structure for them. My husband and children were amazed at his transformation. Neighbors too! Always a good dog he is now AMAZING!! Yes Rj uses e-collars. The level my dog works off of I cannot feel. At the point I can feel it, it feels like a Tens unit. NOT shock.DUH! Rj trains the dogs in his home which is a lovely, immaculate, safe, warm setting. His own dogs, who of course are perfectly behaved, are mentors to the untrained little heathens entering boot camp. They taught Rajah how to play appropriately and have nice puppy manners with other dogs. Rj approaches dog training with an incredible passion, kindness, an enormous wealth of knowledge and love. I am so grateful to the Universe for putting us in his path, I can’t imagine ever using a different trainer or a different method. Rj ROCKS!! Worth every CENT!! We couldn’t be happier! I rescued a GSD who came with some serious health and behavioral problems due to a history of abuse. He would resource guard me through lunging, barking, and growling at anyone who came near me. My husband was due to come home for the holidays from the Army and we were both in desperate need of professional help so that we could make the family work with our new pup. By the grace of the dog Gods, we found RJ and Rosie who were not only extremely professional, but willing to accommodate their own busy holiday schedule to ensure our pup Edmund could get the training he needed. We signed him up for the four-week boot camp to target his resource guarding issues and leash reactivity. RJ and Rosie also kindly offered to set up an introduction with Edmund and my husband at their place to ensure everything went well upon Edmunds graduation from bootcamp. Needless to say, the introduction went very well and my husband, Edmund, and myself were able to enjoy our holiday time together relaxed, structured, and filled with lots of love! What my husband and I are most appreciate of is the patience, accommodation, and transparency that RJ and Rosie provided us. They were always there to answer any questions or provide us with reassurance when there was hesitation on our end. Their work is truly incredible and we are still in disbelief on Edmund's transformation in just four weeks! To top it all off, Edmund has severe Pancreatitis, so he is on a special medication and food. Upon dropping him off at bootcamp, he still had bad diarrhea, and had been experiencing it since we rescued him two months prior. Rosie gave us a call and asked for permission to try him on a food she gives her own pups that experience similar food sensitivities. In two days, the diarrhea completely stopped! He has not had it since and I honestly don't think we would have found something that worked for him without her suggestion. Honestly there is so much I could say about our wonderful experience, and we hope to work with them in the future. Thank you SO much...
