My husband was robbed in his room at the Hotel Revival in Mt Vernon Baltimore on Sept 30 around 7:30 am, while he was in the shower due to a faulty room door that did not lock, a lack of general security and a lack of security cameras. About 10 seconds after he got in the shower he heard the door to the room being forced open. He yelled from the shower, βwhoβs thereβ and they answered βhousekeepingβ. A few seconds later he realized it could not be housekeeping at 7:30 am and jumped straight out of the shower. He found the door to the room open and his wallet gone. He looked into the hall but could see no one. He dressed quickly and ran down to the front desk. The front desk seemed unimpressed and unconcerned. He had to ask them to call the police. The police officer arrived at 10:30 am. He looked at the room and then went to get the elevator and door records. He returned to the room with hotel security and a maintenance person. They came up and said his door had been ajar all night. They showed him the records then they opened the door and let it close. It looked and sounded like it was closed but they pointed out to my husband that the door was not closed and locked. They then inspected the door and showed my husband that the weather stripping on the bottom of the door was damaged preventing it form fully closing and locking. They then repaired it on the spot and the door closed properly. The hotel refuses to take responsibility and the General Manager, Ramond Sneed, only called us after the Maryland Club insisted 5 days after the robbery. He had lied to the Manager at the Maryland Club and said he had called me when he hadnβt. He then called me the next day, Oct 4. I had called the hotel on Oct 2 trying to reach him. The person I spoke to in reception said the GM had been given the message but they could not make him call us. He also said that they would not compensate us in any way because that would be admitting guilt. When Ramond Sneed finally did return my call he accused my husband of being inebriated on the night before the robbery and said he had witness statements. Not only is this a lie, my husbandβs friends and the other squash players can verify this, it irrelevant to the fact that he was robbed the following morning. I also find it strange that witnesses would even know who my husband was the night before the theft. There were two weddings going on at the hotel and it was very crowded when he returned to the hotel. When I asked about checking security cameras he insisted there were no security cameras in the guest hallways, elevators or stairwells as it was against the law. The manager insists that there were only two staff in the entire hotel over night, the security person at the front door and the reception person. He insists no one could have entered the hotel and that housekeeping does not start until 9 am. The General Manager is hostile, unsympathetic and rude. The entire response of the hotel management team has unprofessional and disinterested. The safety of their guests is not their primary concern. The General Manager is more concerned with protecting the hotel than in doing the right thing and trying to determine what happened. It is no longer a Hyatt, as it was when the reservation was first made. The Maryland Club will no longer be recommending it to guests at Squash Tournaments. The CEO of a New Waterloo, the current ownership group, has also not responded to my husbands emails. Their phone number in Austin, Texas is disconnected. As the reservation was originally made through Hyatt, I reached out to customer service today. They were very responsive and are opening an investigation. Do not stay at this hotel. It was a very dangerous situation. The Baltimore Police are...
Β Β Β Read moreFirst timer. Pulled up, valet spot occupied by a family unloading. Slowly approached, another valet walked up to my window, informed him I'm checking in, and he advises I pull around the corner to be out of the way of the street. The hotel is the whole corner.
As I unload my car, I realize no one has came back outside. At all. This side of the building is their entrance to their restaurant Dashery, which was closed, doors locked. It's night. Secured my vehicle, made my way to what had looked like the front door, which has a view down a hallway. Approaching with my luggage, I was happy to see a handicap button to auto open the door. I see the previous family being handheld down the hallway. Get up some stairs to the second door and it's locked. Still hesitant if I'm at the correct entrance, I ring the doorbell. Nothing, absolutely nothing. I can see one woman sitting in what could be a lobby, she gets up and walks past my view point casually, so I guess she's a guest. I knock when she passes, nothing. It occurs to me to call the hotel. Thankfully you get a real person and it was the front desk. Gentleman talks me thru to where I was, realizes where I am, and unlocks the door quickly. Turns out the check in desk is an unseen 90 degree right turn after that second doorway. So we weren't far from one another. Later I thought, why not place a camera there to assist the front desk person to distinguish guests versus danger lol. Front desk guy was lovely! Also, where did the valet go who gave me the instructions to park where I did lol, not cool man, not cool!
Only stayed one night, departing early the following day. The room came off as lovingly thoughtful! As I go to check out there are multiple people at the front desk, 4 maybe 5. So many I thought some were guests and I stood in what I took to be the line. Turns out all of them were staff. Early morning thought was I wish some of y'all worked the shift last night lol; I swear one was the woman who walked by me while knocking. I let them know I enjoyed my stay and hoped to make this my Bmore spot when I'm in town.
As a first timer I asked if I could bring my luggage downstairs to their restaurant Dashery before I got on the road. I didn't know what it looked like. Get the okay, take the elevator down. I'm in a rush. Only one person in front of me and the cashier just cashed her out. I think I have great timing. 4 people max in the whole place chillin. I guess the cashier was also the barista, and assistant chef, because that cashier did not come back to the counter. Another staff member came out the kitchen with orders and those 4 folks chillin got up to collect their food. Cashier starts helping. Time goes by and no one comes back. I'm beginning to see a theme here. I see food getting handed out and people sitting back down. The lady that was in front of me smiles as she takes her drink. Kitchen guy who came out goes back in. I partially see a set of arms behind some machines then they disappear. Wait another few minutes and I change my order in my mind from a breakfast sandwich to a drink and a banana because I'm beginning to run late to the graduation I'm in town for. I wait a few more minutes for my stomachs sake and give up after about 10 minute minimum wait, now I know I'm late. No ones coming back to take my money and provide food lol. I roll my belongings toward the exit and prepare to carry my luggage up a longer staircase and deal with an empty stomach until later in the afternoon. Listen, with a restaurant name like Dashery I actually thought I...
Β Β Β Read moreNice boutique hotel in a building with a lot of history. All the staff we encountered were super friendly and the receptionist even recommended restaurants nearby and in the Inner Harbor area. The two elevators were a little bit small and made some squeaky noises, but they worked fine. But for a hotel with 14 floors, only two elevators are pushing it to the limit a little bit; be prepared to wait for a bit during some busy times. Rooftop restaurant/bar is definitely a popular spot, be ready to wait if you donβt have a reservation.
As for the room, it was very spacious. Lots of details in design, unique and fashionable furniture. There were lots of USB charging ports available (on nightstand) which was nice!
There were some stains on the fabric sofa and ottoman sets, it would be nice if those would be cleaned. There was not a desk in the room, so itβs not a good hotel for business travelers if you need a desk to do some work. The lights hanging from the ceiling (lower-ish) were very dusty; we tried to adjust the lights and quickly abandoned the idea after seeing the thick layer of dust. Also only a few coat hangers were provided; it would be nice if a few more were provided. Nice large TV in the room with smart features, but there was a delay in response from the remote control.
As for the bathroom, itβs also very spacious. We had good water pressure in the shower. A few minor complaints about the bathroom would be that our hair dryer had an issue and we couldnβt turn it to high (only low). The bathroom door hinges could use some WD40 as they made squeaky noises! Also, the bathroom window didnβt have a blind and the glass panes were not frosted, so the inside can be seen clearly from the outside, especially at night. This is a privacy concern and I wish it could be improved.
As for parking, they offer valet at $42 and self parking at $24 or $28 (depending on which garage/lot you choose). Check out SpotHero as you can probably find something cheaper (but may be without in-and-out privileges). Or free street parking is also available depending on date and time (read signs! Each side/section of the street has different limitations. But some are free between 8pm and 7am Mon-Fri and more free spots on (better) weekends/holidays). We had a weekend stay and were able to utilize the street parking easily for free.
Overall, we had a great stay at Revival (nice 13 floors view). And we enjoyed the food at the on-site breakfast cafe. Although itβs not located in the Inner Harbor area where most tourists would go (~1 mile away), I would still recommend Revival to anyone visiting the...
