I told myself I wouldn't return to the Mt. Washington Post Office, but here we are again. This morning I stopped by to drop off a ready-to-ship prepaid package. I borrowed the shipping box from my office, and since I work in a medical clinic, the box was originally marked with standard 'biohazard' designations. However, since I was not shipping anything hazardous - I was shipping pants - I took extra care to black out every biohazard marking on the box. Truly, every square inch of the box's original markings was blacked out leaving no indication that this wasn't simply a normal box that had been marked with a sharpie (imagine a brown, shoebox-sized box with nothing on it except a prepaid USPS label and several black-sharpie rectangles on the side). Unfortunately, the lovely postal worker informed me that she wouldn't ship my package because of the box's markings. When I asked her what the issue was or how I could fix it, she told me "I don't know, but I'm not going to send it". She then told me that I could drop it off "around the corner" to be picked up directly instead of being processed at the front desk, but when I walked around the indicated corner, all I found was a wall of PO boxes. I returned to the front desk and asked where she was talking about, to which she again replied, "I don't know". In a last ditch effort I asked once more where else I could leave my package or how I could correct its markings to make it shippable, prompting the same response: "I don't know but I can't send it". I let the worker know that I'd take the package elsewhere and shipped it without issue 20 minutes later at another location. I still can't figure out why I keep returning to this USPS location - it's probably because it's the closest one to where I live - but each time I go is another mind-numbing experience where I ultimately have to find another much simpler solution at a different location. I don't pretend to think that postal workers have an 'easy' job or that I should expect them to provide the world's best customer service, but I still struggle to understand how bad this location is at its core functions. If anyone reads these reviews, please note that this interaction occurred at 9:05 am on 08/27/25 - I like to imagine there's some sort of accountability system in place to follow up on reports like this, but I'm probably...
Read moreOctober 2023 update: THIS LOCATION MERITS ZERO STARS. NEEDS INVESTIGATION FROM POSTMASTER GENERAL. For weeks now they close at least one hour early on Saturday, post a paper sign on the door and claim the "system is acting up." Seems so convenient that their system allows them to constantly close early on a Saturday when they are the only location in a large radius that is normally open one hour later. Also, another paper sign, they don't take cash; August 2022 update: Went today (a Saturday) to drop 3 pre-paid packages, and they were locking the door 5 minutes before the stated 2pm closing time. There was no line. One family was inside. Had my baby with me and had driven 20 min. to get there. Begged the worker to let me drop them inside (and get a receipt). Worker said her supervisor told her to start locking up. By law, they are required to serve people until the closing time of 2 pm; 2021 review: Assuming this location was open until 5pm on weekdays, I went here to drop off 7 packages this week but found they were closed and deposited them in their interior drop box stating it's emptied at 3pm and 5pm. The 7 packages took from Tuesday 4:45 pm until Friday 1:30 am to be scanned at the central distribution center. Meanwhile, mail shipped at another local post office last week was scanned both at the post office after closing at 5pm and at the Linthicum Heights MD Distribution Center 24 hours later. So, why is there a 2+ day lag of mail exiting this...
Read moreSummary: The people that work here are very rude and unprofessional. Me and my fiance made an appointment here for passports. When we scheduled our appointment, the confirmation email told us to arrive 10 minutes early. When we showed up 10 minutes early like we were told, the lady at the front gave us an attitude for being early. When the lady finally started working on our passports she was very rude. Did not say a single word to us. We had all of our documents and photocopies. She kept my original birth certificate and my photocopy but only kept my fiances photocopy and gave back the original. When I asked nicely if I was getting my original back like him she said no without explanation. When I asked her why she said "do you want to submit your application or not". Considering a birth certificate is a highly sensitive document, I do not see why she had to be so rude about me inquiring where my personal information was going. She could have simply took the 5 seconds it took to explain the situation to us instead of being rude. Meanwhile, the whole time we were getting our passports done the other worker was on facetime with someone while helping other costumers. Our receipt did not have the workers name that helped us on it (of course) but it said "cashier 40" on it. I've been to several USPS' and they are notorious for being rude but this location is definitely worse...
