PetSmart — Local services in Barboursville

My first time here was yesterday after I signed up for their rewards program. I am going to be checking how competitive they are with PetCo in regards to selection and price. The rewards programs are comparable. The store itself is spacious, well organized, and well lit. The store was clean and appealing to the eye. There was minimal staff that I could see. I went around and checked to see if they sell all the products that I normally buy for my 16 year old Mini Pin. They seem to have a bit more variety than PetCo. They even had senior dog multivitamins that PetCo does not have. The live animals looked to be well maintained and looked after. The cats up for adoption were also very interactive, and their living quarters were clean and spacious. I'm going to do some price comparisons and then decide where I am going to shop for my pooch. Overall, I do recommend giving them a visit and seeing everything they have to offer. I only saw one staff member (the cashier), but she was friendly and knowledgeable. I started a fish tank and did a cycle without fish. I got the water almost perfect for my Mickey Mouse Platies but my water was testing hard. I used so many over the counter chemicals with no change. A family member told me to get the fish and that should fix then problem. It didn't fix the problem and sadly I lost my first few fish. I went to the store and was going to buy some new chemicals when the worker there talked to me and I explained what happened. She listened and asked what area I lived. She suggested mixing in some bottled water in my tank. I walked out with some new Mickey Mouse Platies, some algae eaters, and a renewed since of hope my tank wasn't going to be a total loss. Well, the bottle water mix did the trick and my tank is thriving. Thank you!!!! I know of 6 Mickey Mouse Platies, two snails, and a small algae eater that is very happy in their new home!! I am routinely checking the water quality and everything is awesome. I will use PetSmart in Barboursville for all my pet...

The store just opened recently so I'll have to follow up soon but my first impression was great. The overall design of the store is well laid out and feels open and not cramped in any way. They have ANIMALS!! They have a variation of animals from kittens, fish, birds, reptiles and this really cool turtle i saw chilling. I wanted to pet the cats sooo bad but Im highly allergic. The friendly staff greeted me on entry and made me feel welcomed even though I was just there to see the store for now. Asked if I needed help in finding anything. They have everything you might need for your pets from foods, cages to accessories. I do recommend and I definetly see myself returning but mostly to see...
