Newbury Comics — Local services in Barnstable

Ever since they changed locations there associates they have hired don't know a single thing about their stock or products. Their pokemon cards are over priced compared to anywhere else. Their card sleeves are $15 for 25ct when the same product they are selling is online or anywhere else is $2-5. They have no idea what comic book box's are or cards box's are. Their free comic book day doesn't say anything online or anywhere saying 3 per person which isn't right when you go there and boom there is ppl that have been waiting since 830am for the store to open to get the comics to the register and be told there is a 3 comic limit. That should of been advertised because the years before this year there wasnt a limit. On top of that almost all their comic books are bent because they packed them so much you can't pull them out or browse them and of course you have ppl having to bend them to get them out. This store has gone down hill since they moved locations. They used to have amazing managers and associates that knew their stock, knew their products. I've also been there several times where there was no associate on the sales floor and customers standing at the reg yelling at me thinking I was an associate because I was looking at the Pokémon cards next to the register. Where was the associate? They where in the back behind the closed door on the opposite side...

Its still probably the most decent comic book and miscellaneous merchandise store you can go to on CAPE. From Anime, movies, records, comics and music. But sadly it lacks alot of what the store use to be, if some of us hyannis/cape cod folk do not remember, the store use to be right next to toys are us. The store was HUGE compared to what it is now in the mall. Had a wider variety of things, double the amount of music, games and videos. Most of the stuff they have now is half of that, maybe less. It seems to have dwindled a bit over the years, I mostly walk in to look, over the past year I have maybe purchased 1 or 2 albums out of the 30+ times iv walked into that store in 2017, granted digital sales are killing physical CD sales. The store isnt what it use to be anymore. But I will say I believe its more the mall if anything, cause other locations are WAY nicer then this one. Sadly though this store is...

Arrived to cape cod with a few thousand dollars late January, went shopping, and when we entered this store this bigger guy with curly hair kept following us around like we were going to steal. I had my infant in my arms. Felt disrespected, as I already tried respecting the store by voluntarily leaving my stroller at the front desk. If you are alternative looking on cape cod, beware this store. I definitely called the guy out for his aggressive following as he was like up in our physical space pretending to organize socks that were in tip top shape on the rack and walking to the end of the aisles we were in and starting us down. He said something like “sorry It’s how you look.” Cute! Hope he won’t be around after the virus starts...
