Uppercut's Barber Shop — Local services in Baton Rouge

Sat at the Uppercuts barbershop from 10:30am -11:52am. Called prior and notified them I found the place on Instagram and was interested in getting my hair cut. I arrived to a almost empty shop with no barbers. One by one each of the barbers showed up. There was another young guy here who was waiting on a barber that showed up later. The guy waited for a hour to be told that the guy was booked up and couldn’t get to him until after lunch even though he was here before the barber arrived. The barber who greeted me continued to take other clients besides me not knowing I was happily willing to tip extra to speed up the process. 12 o’clock and still no haircut and I’ve been skipped several times. I would never recommend this Barbershop to anyone. Especially anyone new to the area. They have a bias towards new customers and they are turned away. It was a reminder that the south does things way differently than we do them in the city.

Terrible barbershop. The men just sit and gossip and talk all day without actually doing anything, cutting hair or actually moving or checking on new customers. They expect you to come to them and put yourself in line with one of them while not making any of this obvious or having this set out and explained properly. They are more than happy to sit there and let you wait for over an hour before informing you that you need to select your own barber, if he has room in his line, rather than use a standard and logical first come first serve basis. They are more than happy to sit and curse and use racial slurs than provide a good barbershop experience, and their haircuts are going up in price to $25 starting in February.
