I’ve never really been in a place that I have felt unsafe and wanted to leave the instant I walked in until I came to this Popeyes. Placed mobile order and went to the drive through to pick it up and sat for about 5 minutes waiting for someone to answer and got nothing. So drove around and went inside the store. Which upon going in you can instantly see how unkept and gross this place is. Stood at the counter for a minute or two and was not greeted or spoken to. Out of the 6-7 people I seen, all were on their phones and only 2 people were working, the cook and one lady behind the counter. After finally being spoken to, told the lady I was there for a mobile order pick up and she started putting it together. As I’m sitting there at the counter there is someone behind me sitting down at a chair and she seemed to be tweaking a little. My wife stayed in the car out in the parking lot where 3 homeless men that could barely stand straight up walked up to the car and actually looked in the car. Luckily the doors were locked. I had to stand at this counter for another 5-10 minutes while they put my order together while the 3 men who just looked in my car sat outside the front door at an outside table. I felt as though I had to hurry up out the store and get to my wife and car not knowing what these men were thinking. Also, all the people walking around inside the store on their phones were complaining about problems that customers probably shouldn’t be hearing. First and last time ever going to this, I wish I could call it an establishment but that would be giving it to much credit,...
Read moreThis is the friendliest Popeye's that I have been in Baton Rouge. I'm not only from New Orleans and lived about a mile from Popeye's #1; I also lived two blocks from where Mr Copeland perfected his recipe. It was essentially a snow ball stand, but it had a fryer and stuff. We'd go there once a week or so. He wasn't there all that long. I was about 10, and I can remember my stepfather complaining that the chicken always tasted different. You never knew what you were going to get. He must have told Mr Copeland something because the very next evening he came home with chicken. He said the guy explained that he is trying to find the perfect recipe and the guy talked him into giving him detailed feedback. It was not until years later that I realized how special it was to have been able to play a part in such an amazing story. Anyway, most Popeye's in New Orleans are friendly. In Baton Rouge and Denham, they are not mean or rude, in fact they are very professional, almost to the point of losing some personal connection with their customers. However, the Popeye's on Staring reminds me of Popeye's...
Read moreWe ordered butterfly shrimp, chicken tenders, mashed potatoes, and coleslaw, with biscuits. Walking in, we saw the restaurant was truly dirty in need of a good cleaning. The staff were not interested in waiting on us. Although the place wasn't crowded, it took way too long to be waited on. After receiving the food and returning home, we discovered no shrimp or mashed potatoes were in the bag. After driving back to the restaurant, the missing shrimp and potatoes were given to us without argument.
The coleslaw was barely average. The mashed potatoes were from an instant mix and were lumpy and way too salty. The biscuits were hard and definitely not flakey. The chicken tenders were some of the worst I've ever tasted: tough and overcooked, more like jerkey than tenders. Go to Chick-fil-A or Cane's if you want good chicken tenders. And the "butterfly shrimp" were pitiful. Almost nothing but hard, tough batter. Also way overcooked - tough and chewy.
This is absolutely the worst fast food restaurant that I've been to in a very long time. Avoid this place...
