My husband and I ate here for the first time today, and we have not been so pleased with a dining experience in Baton Rouge in quite a while. We were welcomed quickly and warmly and our server, Jeremiah, was outstanding. Attentive, but not obtrusive, and helpful with suggestions.

We started with the Causa Rellena. The Causa Rellena is a dish made of layered chilled golden potatoes infused with yellow Peruvian peppers and lime, with avocado and wood fired rotisserie chicken salad. It’s topped with a slice of boiled egg and an olive and served with three delicious sauces. The olive based sauce is faintly purple and is salty and delicious. The orange sauce is a pepper cream sauce that adds just enough spice, and the yellow is a tangy mustard the really gives the dish some extra punch. A must-try.

Our main course was the charcoal oven Peruvian rotisserie chicken (Pollo la Brassa) served with a perfect crispy skin and meltingly tender (even the white meat). Our sides were yucca fries and plantains. The flavor of the charcoal fire is amazing and the simple spice rub compliments that flavor without distracting from it. The chicken was so good that we ate it without using the dipping sauces - though they went amazingly with the yucca fries, which were crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. The plantains were nicely cooked and flavorful, and dusted with a slightly spicy chili spice.

For dessert, we decided to try the Picarones, described on the menu as a Peruvian donut. However, my husband and I agreed that while doughnut shaped, this amazing dessert made with squash has a crisp exterior with a custard/bread pudding texture that is rich and delicious, especially with the honey and spice syrup served for dipping.

Please try this restaurant. We have so few in Baton Rouge that offer such amazing food and...

Driving home, I saw a wondrous and amazing sight as the voices of angels sang…well actually it was just a sign advertising all day happy hour but still! Service by the host was amazing, the waitress maybe had less energy but no big complaints. Now let’s turn to the business of taste buds. The beef empanada was crisp and full of delicious stuffing. The chicken maaaaaan the chicken would have earned this restaurant 4.5 stars by itself even if the restaurant was run by Oscar the Grouch in his trash can! The roasted chicken was succulent and full of flavor and the ají sauces were simply delicious. Make sure to ask for spicier if you need to like any good ethnic restaurant they have that secret sauce in their secret sauce they can give in addition to the included ones. The ceviche was delicious and the fish was cobia…so good quality and very buttery. I was at first suspicious of the corn nuts and yams as sometimes they could be used to reduce the amount of fish but the portions were good and the sides were delicious, giving complimentary flavors and crunchy textures to the fish so I can’t be mad at all. The alcoholic drinks are a must try…the passion fruit (maracuya) pisco sour was one of the top drinks I’ve tried in BTR…unfortunately on the nonalcoholic side the chicha morada seemed bottled and a little less flavorful than others I’ve tried. Overall Brasas was well worth the meal and a...

8.23.25 I came to this establishment for the first time around 8 P.M. (My I ly regret is not having tried this place sooner.) The bartender/hostess were amazingly cordial; the welcome to the eatery was very hospitable.

My bf and I ordered the beef meat pie and the chicken meat pie. Wow!!!! The pastry alone is the best tasting dough that I have ever tasted in a "meat 🥧 pie". THESE APPETIZERS ARE A MUST! Treat yourself well and enjoy both of them!!!

I also ordered the dry pork stew. The waiter assured me that the peanuts were going to be cooked and not served as just a crunchy topping in it. That stew blew me away! 💯 Percent the best meal that I have had in a long time. It was home-cooked! It reminded me of something that I would prepare at home with an over 3 hour cook time.

My boyfriend had the half chicken with 2 sides, and the chicken was moist and seasoned very well. The plantains were awesome to the taste, as well.

I can't wait to try something else on their menu! The quality of the food is very noticeable. They are choosing the good venders...and/or choosing to prepare great meals without the use of msg and other fillers.

Our waiter even recognized that I forgot my side of plantains on the table, and he walked out to give them to me.

Great folks work here. There's great food. It's a clean and decorative spot to...
