Literary Leftovers — Local services in Battle Ground

I took six paperback books into this store for trade. I picked three paperbacks, and walked over to the counter. The VERY RUDE woman said I can only have two books, and I would have to pay fifty cents additional for each book. I told her why do I have to give you money?? I brought you six books, she says I can only have two??.. plus pay fifty cents for each book?? She said we have a new system now. My rent went up she said. I told her that's not my problem and she got mad at me!

I'm an eldery female. I don't need to be yelled at and scolded. She threw my books in my bag and said Leave!!

This young woman was fighting with me, an elderly female, over a few cents...UNBELIEVABLE!

I will never go back to this store. I don't need to be treated like I'm an idiot and rudely talked to by a young stuck up woman with no manors!!

Incredible experience, with employees who love what they do and clearly love books. They have a kitty who is adorable and stars on some of their merch. And if you bring in your used books you get 20% off your purchase there. I also love all the activities they have and trying to bring in the local community. I have a little one and appreciated the little half wall area to help corral them with old calico critters and wall houses and little things to keep them occupied. I was also taken aback because I was looking for a specific book and they didn’t have it, except for a copy that had some writing and just a little water damage to the spine and they gave it to me because they knew someone would want it. I love following the recommendations of the professionals. It's refreshing to occasionally have the choices made for me and I am often quite delighted with the outcome. To that end I told the owner a very little bit about my interest and my usual selection process, and asked to be surprised and wowed. I've just looked through my new assortment of books and am quite impressed. I could tell they really listened.
