For under $10, you receive a plate of tan, deep fried morsels of meat, drizzled in tangy sugar sauce. "It's so much food, " people around you whimper under their breaths. They stare down and attempt to reason with their plates, "It's just so much food..."
You begin digging with fork and folly. Sight becomes beige and blurred. A lady appears often through the haze of your grease-sweat lubricated struggle of public self indulgence. She offers tea, soups, and kindness. She asks about your weekend plans. "Oh, it's so nice. So beautiful," she nods and laughs appreciatively at what you have to say. She produces the half-familiarity of a great aunt you met only once in your youth, before she passed away. Memories ebb and flow now as the passage of time is lost in rapturous rangoon revelry. It's dark outside.
The meal ends as it always ends: in a styrofoam box. It somehow contains more succulent Chinese food than was originally delivered. Arriving at your car, like waking up from a salacious fever dream, you feel that one of the catalytic experiences that enact visions and revisions of your soul has taken place again, in this unassuming American Chinese restaurant.
Thank you Golden Palace. We will be back.

Read moreI just feel the public has the write to know the facts about the Silver Dragon in Battle Ground. I worked there for about four months. This place is filthy. The second day I was training a mouse came running out from under one of the back tables. I told the girl that was training me and she told the cooks they came out once everyone left the dining area and caught the mouse and several others in the back kitchen area. Another problem is they are infested with ants on the counters, in the water glasses, in the pop machine. The white cutting board in the kitchen I don't think it was washed the whole time I was there. And I closed the restraunt. It is left unwashed every night. With the exception as to when the health inspector is scheduled to visit. The red sauce is poured on the floor of the fridge, the first day I trained I watched a person step over the open container with her shoe. I challenge you to walk in to the dining area across the carpet with wet shoes and then back onto the tile you will find that it will leave muddy foot prints. I had many people tell me that the rice tasted sour. That's because it is left out on the back counter for long periods of time. If you have ever taken your food handlers test you will know that rice goes bad very quickly. I have seen meat left out over night to thaw as well. At the very least I hope this review will force them to clean...
Read moreWent for lunch with my wife the other day. both got the lunch special, I got the general tso and she got the Mongolian beef. Free hot tea which to me is really nice because I’m a tea guy and like it with my meal. Started with free soup which is just fantastic way to start the meal. My soup was hot and tasted like egg flower soup. It does have pork in it so it is not vegetarian by any means. Wife got the hot and sour and she liked it. Our entrees came out before we even finished the soup which I didn’t mind because I’d rather have my food sooner than later. the portions are pretty large. You wouldn’t guess it was only about $12 a plate because it really was large and even I didn’t finish my food which if you knew me would be shocking. Both of us enjoyed our meals and you just can’t beat two full meals with leftovers for $24 total. The atmosphere is standard basic American Chinese flare with some Chinese inspired decor. The seats were obviously worn and old but were repaired. Booths are dated but comfortable. Tables are clean. Service was constantly fast and they made sure my wife always had water. That seems like something that’s expected but my wife drinks water like she’s dying of thirst while she’s eating so it’s quite a compliment to say they were on top of it. We will definitely...
