Ah yes, “it’s a small world”—the ride that proves world peace is possible… provided we all agree to hum the same song forever.
This iconic Disney classic is a must-do, not because it’s thrilling (it’s not), or short (definitely not), but because it’s a rite of passage. Once you’ve floated through room after room of glittering animatronic children serenading you in various languages, you’ll emerge a changed person. Possibly happier. Possibly mildly unhinged. Either way: Disney magic.
The dolls are adorable, the set design is dazzling, and the message of global unity is genuinely heartwarming. But let’s be real—after the fifth chorus of "It’s a small world after all," you’ll be smiling through a slight twitch in your left eye, wondering if this is where sanity ends and cheerful diplomacy begins.
For parents: your kids will love it. For adults: you’ll start off thinking, “This is cute,” and end with, “This is psychological warfare.” And yet… you’ll still hum the song in line for Space Mountain two hours later. It’s inescapable. It’s eternal. It’s… Disney.
So buckle up (metaphorically—there are no seatbelts), lean into the chaos, and surrender to the happiest, eeriest cultural exchange program on water.
Just remember: the real ride begins when the song won’t leave your head for the next three to five...
Read moreThis ride is classic Disney. It was put in the park in 1971 so I have fond memories of it from my childhood. The last time I rode it my daughter was five. She was the perfect age for it and I was so excited for her to see it. Unfortunately the man in front of us on the boat was not as delighted to be there and ruined the ride by dropping F bombs every few seconds regardless of the fact that there was a child behind him. He would not stop the entire ride. After that I lost my taste for it.
Fast forward to Friday night and my daughter and I found ourselves standing between it and Peter Pan's Flight right before the park closed. To my surprise my 17 year old daughter wanted to ride it. So we climbed into the last boat of the evening and started my nostalgic journey down memory lane. My daughter had been abroad for the first time recently so we especially liked the vignettes of London and Paris. The dolls and their animal friends are adorable as you make your way around the world. The finale is a large room where all the nationalities of dolls are dressed in white and riding carnival rides. It was our last ride and it ended our trip on a sweet note. Later on I found out she live streamed the ride and called it torture. I think she secretly like it though. I would recommend this ride to first time Disney guests, families with small children, or if...
