I had heard about the famous or infamous pickle corn dog and I just had to try it. There was a small line to order but we ordered one pickle dog and one street corn dog. We did have to wait a while however for them to call our order number and they don’t call it very loud so you have to wait close to the pick up window. The street corn dog was good and fine, it was a skinnier and longer dog with less batter or more dough-y batter. The pickle corn dog was huge as in round and lots of batter that was extra thick and crispy. It is a hollowed out pickle with a hot dog inside the pickle and then battered and fried. So it is a bit tough to eat as you have to really mean it when you bite down to get through the layers. However if you love a pickle you are going to love this. The hot dog was tasty, and the pickle was actually a bit tough to bite through since it was a thick pickle. The outside batter was crunchy and tasty. Towards the end the hot dog starts sliding out of the pickle and the pickle starts sliding out of the batter so it becomes more messy the more you bite it. It comes with a peanut sauce to dip that is tasty but not needed. Overall it is something different to try than just a generic corn dog and I am glad to have tried it out! This is a stand located on the Boardwalk. It is easily accessible from the Boardwalk hotel (you can bus here), or from walking from the other Epcot resorts (Yacht Club, Beach Club, Swan/Dolphin), you can also walk or boat from Epcot, or walk or boat from...
Read moreAfter hearing about this place on a Disney blog, I was super excited to try one of the pickle dogs. We went to over to Boardwalk just to try it.
It was so disappointing. They give you a buzzer while your order is made fresh which is nice but otherwise it was a disappointing experience. First the gift card reader wasn’t working (not a huge deal but added to the less than magical experience), my pickle dog was cold in the middle and still had some uncooked batter on it (cooking with a juicy pickle isn’t something I anticipate is easy but if they start selling em for $16 a pop I assume they have this figured out), then I had read the peanut butter sauce that it comes with is wonderful but it was literally just a cup of peanut butter. You can’t dip something like a massive corn dog that’s falling apart in stiff peanut butter. By the time I was really trying to eat it, we were halfway to Epcot for our Ratitoulle ride or I would’ve walked backed and tried for a refund but we didn’t want to miss our window so I just tossed it and continued on. Overall, really...
Read moreWe finally tried the viral cheesesteak from Blue Ribbon! The weather was perfect that day. The spot itself is a food hut, so there’s no cover while you’re in line, but once you order, there are shaded areas nearby where you can sit and chill.
After paying, they direct you to the side of the hut to wait on your order. Ours came out pretty quick, like 3 minutes tops! While we waited, we got to enjoy some live street entertainment right next door. Two guys were doing acrobatic skits and honestly, it added such a fun, unexpected touch to the whole vibe. It really gave the place energy!
As for the cheesesteak, super cheesy just like the pics and videos. It was hot, crispy, and definitely fun to eat. Flavor-wise, it could’ve used a little more seasoning, so I was glad they gave us marinara on the side. Sharing one was perfect between the two of us, filling but not over the top.
Not sure I’d go back for it again, but I’m really glad we tried it. Worth it for the experience and the fun...
