Here is what I posted on FB about this amazing place:
Yesterday was the big day. Mike's tree was to be delivered. I worked with the familyĀ to get the ground ready for its arrival. The delivery guy calls me early in the morning to let me know he's onĀ the way. Later he calls me with a tone of disappointmentĀ in his voice and tells me that apparentlyĀ my tree was stolen. Someone removed the sold tag and purchased it. Bayside GardenĀ center was very remorsefulĀ about this and as you can imagineĀ I was devastated. They had no other trees like this in stock. They graciously agreed to investigate the issue and research finding a resolution.. I also started to call otherĀ nurseries in theĀ area. My dear, sweet friend/neighbor Amy called me to let me know she had been calling around for me too and found a nursery that may help. I sent that nursery an email about what my need was. Fast forward a few hours later and Bayside called to offer me two options. One beingĀ to allow them to provide me with a similar style tree, promising to replace it next spring with the type of tree I wanted. The other option was that they had found a nursery with one tree left but it was rather large. Much bigger than what I had purchased. I agreed to accept the second option even though I knew planting it was going to be a greater challenge. I was all prepared previously to plant the tree myself. The young delivery driver from Bayside, Sam, came to deliver the tree. Knowing my story he took it upon himself to call around and was the one to locate the new tree. He struggled on his own to get the tree to my backyard, even going back to Bayside to pick up a tree hauling dolly. All 300+ pounds of it. He delivered it very close to the hole and I thanked him and said that would be a perfect spot and that I would gather some family members to help me plant it. He then said he would come back after his shift and plant it for me. That he did. I am ever so grateful to this young man and I know Mike was smiling down upon us. Sam said to me "you know Kristine, I bet this was your husband's way of letting you know he didn't approve of the first tree and wanted a better one." I couldn't agree more Sam! When he was done he thanked me for allowing him to do this...what a giving man he is! Thank you again for your amazing kindness Sam! You will always have a special place...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI was very disappointed with my purchase a few months ago. I bought a lemon/lime tree. At the store, the customer service was pretty good, but when I took the plant home I realized that it was infested with mealybugs. I have over 50 houseplants and some which are rarities like the Monstera Thai Constellation. I'm glad I have a practice of quarantining plants when I bring them in, because this could have been a very costly mistake. Never have I ever bought a plant infested with mealybugs before. This should be concerning to any house plant enthusiast as this plant was living right next to dozens of others. If this plant was infested, so are others. But accidents happen, right? So, I reached out to Bayside to ask if I could return/exchange the plant (leaning towards return because I didn't want any of these nasty bugs in my apartment), but they responded saying that the return policy on plants is 48 hours! Only two days! I unfortunately didn't notice the infestation for about 5 days because I'm busy and do have a life to live. It was a wasted $50 as the plant died in about 2 weeks despite my best efforts.
Needless to say, I'm very disappointed by this establishment. I had been recommended to go here because it was the "best greenhouse in Milwaukee" but I guess I will have to...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreBayside Garden Center is a step back in time when the customer was made to feel that they mattered. The atmosphere is always warm and friendly and your bound to run into someone you know on the grounds or in their numerous green houses which are always filled with quality flowers and plants. The store itself is a haven for interesting things you wouldn't find anywhere else and if you are looking for a gift they have a marvelous selection of interesting things fairly priced. It truly is one of my favorite places to spend the little bit of free time my profession allows me but if I pick up just one plant or a car full of greenery, I feel my time there is always well spent. As with comfort food, Bayside Garden Center for me is a comfort place and I always leave there feeling a little better than when I arrived although my wallet may be a bit lighter at least it's money well spent in one of the North Shores family owned and operated businesses. I should add my dog, Charlie loves going there, he is always welcomed by the staff and enjoys the attention he gets from the other customers not to mention on a good day he may even run into one or more of his...
