Kings gym is amazing! I stumbled onto Kings Gym a little over a year ago, after a bad experience at another area facility. None of the other gyms I visited had the welcoming atmosphere of Kings. Everyone, regardless of age, gender, or fitness level, is there to work – Kings NEVER feels like a meat market. The extensive variety of equipment is kept in perfect working order. Find something awry? Let a staff member know and 99 times out of 100, it will be fixed the next day.
If you are new to working out or want the individualized attention personal or small group training provides, the variety of trainers is second to none. The combined depth and breadth of knowledge present across the personal training staff is amazing. Boxing, general fitness (for all ages/levels of fitness), self-defense, power lifting, sport specific training, Olympic lifting, reconditioning after illness/injury – Kings has experts in these areas. The clientele is as varied as the training staff, and just as friendly and supportive.
I started my relationship with Kings by sitting down with co-owner Ed, for an assessment of my goals (best to call ahead to schedule this conversation). He spent a full hour with me, getting an accurate picture of my personality, what I’d done in the past, and my goals moving forward. He wanted an accurate picture of what I liked AND what I didn’t like – this helped him gauge which trainer would be best suited to work with me. I was lucky enough to wind up training with Frank (the other co-owner).
I’ve been working with Frank for a little over a year and am grateful to have found him. He gives me his full attention every session, going above and beyond to keep me on the right track. Frank has given me workouts to do on my own, helped me through a non-gym related injury, and constantly both pushes and supports me. I trust him implicitly and am I’m thrilled with the progress I continue to make every week. Frank – THANK YOU!!
Kings also has a physical therapist on site. Dr. Yoder was instrumental in helping me recover from my injury and worked with Frank to help me maintain my conditioning throughout the rehab period. I don’t know what I would do without Dr. Yoder.
Over the last year, I have worked a bit with a couple of the other trainers as well. Dustin Kaplan has been fabulous helping me tackle the extremely technical skills involved in Olympic lifting. An expert in his field, he has the rare ability to break down complex physical movements and explain/describe/demonstrate them in a variety of ways, until he finds the one that “clicks.” Neil Wesley, who does amazing work with my father, also helped me overcome some physical limitations and continue to improve.
All-in-all, Kings gym has become my “happy place” and I can’t recommend it...
Read moreI purchased a gym membership from this gym. I was excited because this gym had a good reputation for being a true "lifters" gym. I also attend a step class there, and thought it would have been convenient to lift before or after my step class. Not once, but 3xs, was I approached by management (in the middle of a workout) asking me if I was a member of the gym and if I had paid my monthly dues. This was very rude and embarrassing. The first time, I extended grace and told them the appearance of the gym representative who I had signed up with, so they could ask him where he could have place my paperwork. They "eventually " fold my file. I thought this would be the end of it. 2xs after this conversation, I was approached again by management, asking if I was a member. Each month a payment was deducted from my account. I thought this was very unprofessional and disorganized. Imagine paying for a monthly gym membership and having a representative approach you while squatting 225lbs to say, "hey, Are you a member here. We don't see your paperwork "... I was very disappointed in my service. I was never...
Read moreI have been a member of the Boxing gym for two months now and have been going to the adult classes, today I just renewed again for six more months! There’s quite a bit I enjoy about this place, but some of the things that stick out to me are:
No matter if your class has 5, 10, or 20 people in it, the coaches do a great job of getting some one-on-one time to each individual. I leave each class having learned something new or feeling I improved on some skill.
The community is also fantastic. The coaches and other members are all super friendly, and it isn’t long until they know your name and you feel a part of it.
The workouts are killer (in a good way) and they will push you farther than you knew you could go. I “thought” I was in shape prior, with regular lifting and running, yet I am still challenged each and every workout.
The coaches KNOW boxing, and if your goal is to compete, you’re in the right spot. If it’s just to get into the best shape of your life or to blow off some steam, you’re also in...
