Cycle Gear — Local services in Bedford

The biggest problem with Cycle Gear employees are paid commission on sales. This ends up leading to pushy salespeople who are hellbent on making sales especially up sailing you. Came to store in Bedford looking for a helmet my second trip to this store. Bought a Shoei helmet a year ago. When I came to store then they didn’t have the size they recommended for me so I ordered one and had it delivered to store. When I came back to store to try on helmet it felt really tight to me. I was assured it was the correct size. That it would break in and fit better after some use. So I kept it. After a year the helmet has not. During I ride this past weekend in Arkansas I eventually had to pull over because I was in so much pain from the helmet and took a knife to a $700 dollar helmet and carve out room to relieve the pressure on my head. So upon arrival back at the store I told them about my issue and that I needed to find a helmet that fit and was comfortable. So immediately I was shown a Simpson helmet but again didn’t have the size I needed and was told borderline insisting I order it from them like last time. I also asked about helmet intercom system because I have two and need a third and was immediately told I need to throw away the two I have and buy 3 new top of the line ones. So I asked if they could check and see if another store had the Simpson helmet in 2x and 3x to check the fit before dropping another $600 on another helmet. He checked and told me the Plano store had both sizes and he would call and let them know I was going to come check them out. I get to the store in Plano to find out that he had just called minutes before my arrival and just told them about the 2x. Well no surprise it didn’t fit. But the employees at the Plano store where much more helpful and way less pushy. Will definitely return to this store. Bedford store missed out on a $1200 order just from...

Darrell and I purchased new Helmets HJC Helmets a month or so ago. We of course have to match LOL. These helmets are DOT certified and very well made. We have not worn them until yesterday it has been to hot to ride. So yesterday we wore them for the first time can you say tight! These helmets have a built in sun shade and a clear visor. I am very claustrophobic so I doubt I will use the clear visor. I did however want to use the sun visor. It would not lower. So we took it back and had another amazing experience. The first one was when we bought them. Darrell wasn’t happy about how tight his was and we came back and they explained in great detail why they fit tight and even offered to give him a larger size and then explained why the larger size was a safety issue! That was the second great experience. However, today was the very best when we took mine in because the sun visor wouldn’t release! We met Chad! OMG what an amazing young man! His kindness was amazing he is replacing my helmet! You may think I’m a silly old woman but it brought me to tears. I had to give this amazing young man a hug! We have been screwed so many times and to have him help us like he did brought me to tears! There are still good people out there that care about their customers! Please reward Chad for caring about your customers! We will continue...

I received an e-mail about the Memorial Day Sale (on sunday) so I went online and found a nice quality helmet for my girlfriend. I was able to reserve it and then called the store to ask additional questions before driving over there to check it out. Willy the store rep was polite and spoke clearly. He answered all my questions and reassured me that the discount coupon would be applied to my purchase at time of sale. We headed over and the location was right off the freeway and easy to find. The guys at the counter both greeted us as we walked in and we immediately felt right at home. They looked up our online reservation and brought our helmet out right away. We looked at all the other options just to make sure this was our best option. She tried the helmet on and it was a perfect fit. The coupon was enough to cover the tax so we felt like we got a great deal on a great helmet. In addition I would like to add that they have lots of specialty tools, clothing, and accessories. This establishment is doing it right. It's refreshing to go to a store like this and these days it can be a rare occurrence. Great...
