Last night my family went in to eat for dinner. We knew there would be a wait which we were patient for. They let us know it would be a little longer for a party of 6. (2 adults 4 kids) When they took us to our table it only had 5 chairs. We had to track down another chair. When our server came over we ordered everything since we had already been waiting. It didn’t take long for us to decide what we were eating. I ordered for almost all my kids. Ordered our drinks, lemons, queso and tortillas. Soon after another worker brought out our queso with no small plates, no tortillas. I waited for our server to bring our drinks out to ask for the things we needed. He shows up without my lemons, without the tortillas. I ask for the things we needed while our queso was being demolished by our kids. Some of us don’t eat the chips and wanted the tortillas for our queso. But we waited and waited. Finally I got up and had to ask someone for the things we needed. They show up with tortillas and 3 plates. So half of us dealt with sharing at a bigger table with one bowl going around. When my food came out it had definitely been sitting under the heat lamp while my server tried to take care of more and more tables being sat. He was doing his best but other servers were just lingering around. This server had too many tables at once. He was not incompetent the team was not doing a proper table rotation so he was getting slammed. I got cheese enchiladas... the con carne was dried up on the edge of the plate, the cheese was thick and hard to chew. So I knew it was sitting for a while. I was done complaining. I payed and we left. A $90 meal (including tip) and it was not worth it. We tipped our server 20% because it was not his fault. He was slammed and the team was just hangin out. The bus boys were the hardest working out of all of them. The managers were working the kitchen most likely and unable to take care of the guests or see the fault in their restaurant. For $90 I will gladly go to another...
Read moreMexican Inn has been one of my go to restaurants since I was a kid: which has been well over 50 years. I love the simplicity of their food, as simple doesn't mean unappealing or tasteless. Quite the contrary actually. Their food is plated nicely and almost always bursting with the flavors that make Tex-Mex, well, Tex-Mex.
I am also a firm believer, you judge a Tex-Mex restaurant initially by the chips and salsa. Let's face it, those are the very first components to hit your taste buds. Mexican Inn's are different to say the least. The chips are almost like little homemade Fritos and the salsa is not too hot but definitely not too mild. Goldie herself might say the salsa is just right for the masses. Let's go back to the chips. I hate to say this, but you will either love or hate them; most of you won't straddle the fence. I personally LOVE them.
I won't go into the entrees on this review, but know they are tasty and everything people live about Tex-Mex.
Service at the Hurst location is hit or miss. In the old days, prior to their purchase by Spring Creek, the service was almost always spectacular and you almost always had a favorite waiter or waitress. Today, however, it's the luck of the draw on whom you get. It may just be that times have changed and our expectations should mirror the poorer performance by the wait staff, but this is where the experience starts to tarnish. Don't get me wrong, the food is good enough that I still go, but know that's the draw, not those "taking...
Read moreThe service was terrible. I told the server no cheese due to an allergy....when she brought out the cheese on my meal i explained it was a bad allergy....she took to the back and scraped off the cheese and brought the same plate back....I explained my allergy is severe and asked for a new tray.....she brought back my original side dish that was contaminated and a side dish of new beans.....I explained once again that I cannot risk contact with dairy....she took back the plate and brought me to 3 side orders of beans, rice, and on a 3 rd plate guacamole/pico and you guessed it with cheese on it.....I said again I cannot have cheese and ask for a new side without cheese.....she took back to the kitchen and never returned.....i told the mgr and he offered my meal for free which was a nice gesture but by this time all my family was done eating and I still have not begun......the waitress never returned to our table the rest of the evening and we had to get mgr for our check and further service......the mgr brought me out a side of pico after I complained of no guac/pico....i then asked him if I could get some guacamole.......after 30 minutes i finally got the meal originally ordered.......it was the worst dining experience in years. We normally go to Kellerlocation and the service has been great....we only went to Bedford to meet my brother...
