This place has taken a turn and not for the better. We usually really love to eat here. The lattes are good and the food is usually great. We especially loved that before you walked up to order and then seat yourself. They now have servers and a wait to be seated and as someone who has served tables for a long time I’m so sure that this is because they would rather their workers work for tips rather than just paying them a good wage. When we walked in, the hostess we could barely hear told us it was going to be 15-20 minutes but sat us at a table that had been open since before we walked in. I am sure this is so the servers weren’t overwhelmed but again the order at the front method for this place was just fine and shouldn’t have been changed. When we were seated, the waitress came over several minutes later and told us the espresso grinder was broken, which was one of the biggest reasons I like this place to begin with. Some advice. Please tell customers this before having them wait and then be seated as this is one of the best parts of this place. We ordered our food and it came out pretty quick but our orders were wrong on the breakfast sides on both of our plates. Our eggs were watery which was so gross. And our server didn’t come back to check on us until we were almost done with our meal and didn’t even notice our meals were wrong. She didn’t ask us if we needed a refill on water or anything until after she dropped the check either. I would suggest going back to the old way because this experience was chaotic...
Read moreI really want places like Wood & Grain to succeed! Truly. But our experience was in every way underwhelming. Not terrible, but certainly not worth the price. There is no kid's menu, so for one adult and a 7yo kid to eat a basic breakfast cost almost $40. The drip coffee is $4.25, which is insulting--especially since it was mediocre and the creamer was that non-dairy pull tab kind you would get at the gas station. For $4.25 (when a pound of organic coffee is $7-$10) you need to bring out real organic creamer from the fridge. As a mom who grocery shops and makes dinner, I know what eggs, toast and coffee costs. I get that you have to build in overhead and staff, but let's not be crazy. At this price point you just have to do better. I spend a lot of time trying to convince my friends and neighbors to pay extra to support small, local businesses. For paying that extra price something has to be exceptional. Either the service, the quality and taste of food or the atmosphere. If you can't do that, the food needs to be a bargain. The service was acceptable, the food was okay and the atmosphere was minimal and basic. Everything here was just fine. And "just fine" in a bad economy is not enough to bring me back with additional mouths. When you ask families to stretch their dollars to support you, you have to make it worth the sacrifice. It would not be hard to shift in that direction, but until then W&G is just okay and not worth the cost. I really wanted to love it! Should something change, I would absolutely give it a...
Read moreWe had an absolutely amazing experience at Lovely Day Café for our very first visit, and I can confidently say this was the best breakfast I’ve ever had! From the moment we walked in, we were warmly welcomed by our waitress, Priscilla. She was incredibly nice and friendly, making us feel right at home and adding a special touch to our morning. The food and drinks were just as impressive as the service. We started with their cinnamon coffee, which was made to perfection—rich, aromatic, and just the right amount of sweetness and spice. It set the tone for a fantastic meal. The chocolate muffin was another highlight. It was moist, decadent, and bursting with chocolate flavor—truly a treat! The fresh fruit served alongside was crisp and vibrant, clearly selected with care. Now, let’s talk about the eggs. I can honestly say these were the best eggs I’ve ever had—fluffy, flavorful, and cooked exactly right. The bacon was outstanding as well, generously covered in seasoning and syrup, giving it a sweet and savory kick that was unforgettable. Last but not least, the sourdough toast deserves a mention. It was perfectly toasted, with that signature tangy flavor and a satisfying crunch. Overall, every single item was delicious, and the service was top-notch. Lovely Day Café made our first visit truly memorable, and we can’t wait to come back. If you’re in Bedford and looking for the best breakfast experience, this is the...
