I wouldn't even give it one star if I had the chance. It was a TERRIBLE experience. I grew up going to Medora and used to go to the stables in the park and man do I miss it after going here! They gave me the biggest horse possible and I couldn't get up on it and they offered no help or assistance of any kind. The saddle and harness kept sliding to the side and off the horse every time I tried to mount it and I couldn't continue to pull myself up for fear the saddle would continue to slip. Another patron offered to help but the staff said they couldn't do that because if I ended up off the horse on the ride and couldn't get on myself I'd have to walk back. Well big deal, I would have walked back, or my husband could have helped me. If the saddle had been on right or I could have gotten a little boost I could have gotten on the horse. I'm not an expert but have ridden many times in my life and have never encountered an issue or such poor service as I did at these stables. My family and husband ended up having to go on the ride without me and they said it wasn't very scenic, ran right by the highway, and my husband slid to the side in his saddle partway through the ride and needed to stop the ride to get help. Very disappointing. I don't even know who runs this place, the person at the front desk was a girl of about 20 or so. Would have been nice to speak to management. I plan to return to Medora with my family as we have in the past but we will NEVER...
Read moreWe had a decent ride. Being experienced riders, it was a bit boring to ride at only a walk. However, our family who had never rode before had a great time. One of our guides, Olivia, was wonderful. She helped all the riders willingly and was very personable. Brandon, on the other hand, was very rude. He was not helpful at all. He neglected to help my 8 year old cousin who had never rode before when his saddle was tipping. Only when we were a few minutes to the barn did he get off his horse to fix the saddle, even though it was sliding more than half the time. In addition to this, when I asked him to tighten my girth before the ride because I could tell that it was far too loose, he told me that it was fine and I was the one wiggling in the saddle. When he finally adjusted it, he was able to tighten it a lot, contrary to what he told me. He also neglected to tell us that the horses were not trained to follow simple voice commands, like walk on, which most horses (including our own) are. Then, he got mad at us for using these commands because the horses didn't know them, yet he never told us this. While Brandon ruined our experience, the horses were very obedient and easy to ride, Olivia was great, and the scenery...
Read moreMy daughter just lived the best experience of her life here. As a mom, I was very nervous at first—when we booked, there was only one spot left, so I had to make the difficult decision of letting my 7-year-old go on her own. I had so many questions and couldn’t find much information about the trails, but seeing her excitement, I knew I had to let her try.
She went on the 30-minute trail, riding safely with a helmet and placed right behind the guide. There were 7 people in the group. I nearly held my breath when I saw them disappear behind the hills—she was out of sight for about 10 minutes, and I could barely catch glimpses of her with my phone camera. But the moment she came back into view, I could see the joy on her face.
She did amazing, and the whole ride was spectacular. The very next day she wanted to do it all over again! The guide was excellent—so warm and attentive—and I’m deeply grateful for the way they cared for my daughter, the horses, and the entire group.
✨ Thank you for creating such a beautiful memory for us. This place doesn’t just offer horseback riding, it offers trust, care, and unforgettable...
