I can't tell you how very impressed we were in not only having to change our out of state license to FL, but registering and transferring titles as well. Staff is super helpful and kind. Just need to make sure you bring the documents needed. Which you can check on their website to what what you need. Plus they print out your license right there. No waiting for it to come in the mail like other states.
As for transferrring vehicles from out of state. If you have the title you will still need to have them if the car is with you do a vin verification or if car is home take form and call nonemergency number for local police department to come out to your house to do it. Then bring form back and get registration and new title. Also make sure you have current FL car insurance as well.
We decided to have the title in hand oppose to electronically. As when you do electronically and decide to sell car then you and new buyer would have to both go to their office. As stated on their site.
If the title is held electronically, the seller and buyer must visit a motor vehicle service center to complete a secure title reassignment (HSMV 82994 or 82092) and disclose the odometer reading. The buyer and seller must both be present and provide photo identification.
I have had some people tell me prior that it was going to cost a arm and a leg to get our cars registered. However, while the initial transfer and registration can be somewhat high ie, $285 initial fee, plus $77 title fee then tag fee etc. If you bought a car from a private seller in FL you will pay additional taxes on amt paid as well. We had bought a Ford truck for $2500 taxes were an additional $175. However you have the option of all of it going to one of the random organizations they pull up or have it go to the state. I was impressed with that as well. We decided for ours to go to The Hope Scholarship to help.
We also paid the additional registration fee to have our tags go through 2024. Which was just an additional $40 something dollars. This way we're good till then.
All in all this location was amazing. Plus if you pull up Belleview location they have a live webcam and you can see how crowded it was. That helps in timing when to go so your not...
Read moreAt 8:05 AM, a clerk awakened me from my sleep for my sonâs appointment scheduled for 8:00 AM on August 4th. I informed her that we had a card with the appointment time set for 10:00 AM. She advised me to proceed to the appointment asap and if I can please bring the card with me. However, I was unable to locate the card as I had already added the appointment to my calendar, as I do with all other appointments. Consequently, I arrived at 9:00 AM, only to be turned away and informed that I needed to reschedule due to my lack of the card. I am perplexed as to why I needed to reschedule when you woke me up at 8:00 AM, knowing that you would not take me. The supervisor, who was unfortunately inconsiderate, intervened. While all the clerks I have interacted with have always been kind and willing to go above and beyond, âPerfect Pattyâ the supervisor, requires more customer interaction to comprehend her position. August 19th is next available...
