Took my sons mountain bike to have a tuneup done on his bike and have the front brake adjusted . Was told it would only take a couple days and they would be finished. We were scheduled to go on vacation 2 days later and had to have bike back the following week for a triathlon he would be training for. Went on vacation did not hear from the all week. Called when we got back was told it was not touched yet but no reason why. Explained again Monday we had to have it was assured they would do it the next day (Saturday). Got a call the next day to come they finished it. Picked up and still had mud on it did not seem to different but brake was adjusted . Got it to his training and they had someone look at the bikes for the kids at the training. It was pointed out to be the tires had 10 pounds of pressure and the chain was all dried and needed greased. Mentioned I just had a tube up and the person let me know it definitely did not have one. I was charged the $50 tube up charge though . I see the reviews here but not at all the experience we had. UPDATE: Spoke with the owner who was very upset this happened at his shop made no excuses for it and was an oversight on their part not getting the bike serviced and sending it out not touched. He offered to personally come to my home get the bike and tune it up and bring back to not inconvenience us anymore and also refund us. We had the bike tuned up already so was not needed but he insisted on refunding us and he did so right away. I have spoke to a few friends who say this is not normal and is a wonderful shop. I was very impressed with the owners response to our experience and would give them a try again with any biking needs. I love to support local business and this owner is very passionate about this industry and...
Read moreJust such an awesome shop with an amazing staff. I purchased a new bike from them in November and they were extremely helpful and knowledgeable which helped immensely when it came to figuring out a bike that was best for exactly what I wanted and was looking for. They have almost an entire fleet of bikes to demo which makes narrowing down your choices that much easier. After purchasing my bike with them I have been in there regularly to purchase merchandise here and there or to have my bike tuned up and it is always such a great experience and is always such a great atmosphere. I would recommend them for any of your biking needs.
**I wanted to update my review... After about a year of visiting this shop pretty regularly for tune ups, adjustments, parts, etc. Their level of attention to detail, their ability to diagnose issues, and overall quality of service still never ceases to surprise me. I recently went in to have my downhill bike in for a tune up and they pointed out something to me that I have not seen at any other shop in the area. My Pivot is capable of using either 29" wheels (which is what I purchased it with) as well as 27.5"+ wheels. I have always been interested in trying them, but as with most things in the mountain bike world the only way to try something out is to purchase it and see if you like. Well, not at this shop! They have hand built a couple 27.5+ wheelsets for their customers to demo. I was able to try out a set for myself and really enjoyed seeing and feeling just how much fun the 27.5+ set up can be. This is just one of the many ways South Main Cycles truly is a...
Read moreOn 05/24/25 My son took his tire to get his inner tube replaced. On his week old graduation present which cost 2,400 dollars. It is on a brand new GT73 electric bike. After waiting on an hour he went inside to check up on his tire and he was told it would take another two hours. Since we live in Lake Wylie we went home and came back at 4:00pm and the wheel was not ready yet. One of the workers said ill be the next one to get my tire fixed so I left the store and went back to the car. After that I waited about another 45 minutes and went back inside and still hasn't been worked on. They said ill be the next one up even though they said that 45 minutes ago. Finally around 6:00pm they started working on it. After a while and multiple attempts to fix my wheel. At 6:30pm They finally told me that they can't fix tire because they said the inner tube was wrong size. And I should go to motorcycle shop. As you can see by the photo down below that I linked to this review they did some damage to my wheel. Since this is a brand bike I cannot replace that wheel. The wheel isn't just scratched it is also it was cut into some places. I tried to avoid doing bad reviews but in that case It shows poor work ethic and I should be told they cannot help me with my issue instead of ruining my wheel on my...
