Had the best time celebrating a friends birthday party! Chris the owner is one of the most hilarious, welcoming, knowledgeable people I have ever met. You can tell he loves his community, loves what he does, and loves the history of his theater and what it means to Bernardsville (it’s 120 years old-the oldest theater in NJ!)
One of the neatest things is he has customized concessions. All of the classics with an added candy bar! The theater is gorgeous too. It feels like you’re stepping back into the time and in fact Theater 1 is still the original theater, where the movie screen is set atop a stage surrounded my guilded molding and sconces. Breath taking!
For the party, we were able to rent out an entire theater, concessions included (which was so special for guests), pick your movie (even play video games-Mario kart on the big screen anyone ?!), BYOB (I mean, come on!) and bring in your own food. We did a theme party (how to solve a mystery) and watched Clue. One of the most memorable way to celebrate a friends birthday, and Chris, the owner made it so much more special. He got us laughing, kicked off the party, greeted everyone with the biggest contagious smile and made the whole...
Read moreToday, we went to Bernardsville Cinema 3 to see 'kingdom of the Planet of the Apes,' and it was an excellent experience for the whole family. From the moment we arrived, Chris, the owner, greeted us with great kindness. The ticket prices were very affordable. We enjoyed some delicious popcorn and candy. Despite being a small theater, it's very nice, clean, and cozy, with comfortable seats that made the movie even more enjoyable. The bathrooms were clean, which we definitely appreciated. As we left, Chris greeted us again and asked if we enjoyed the movie, which was really nice of him and added to our experience. We said goodbye very satisfied. This theater is very different from the large cinema chains, but for those of us who seek small and cozy places, this is the perfect spot. Plus, it's very gratifying to support small businesses. Definitely, from now on, this will be our go-to...
Read moreChris, the curator of the new Bernardsville Cinema, is so very accommodating. As a child, I became deaf. Now, I m profoundly hearing impaired. I learned to lip read, but it has its limits, especially in electronic media. But I enjoy the experience of shared movie watching. When the closed captioning feature malfunctioned recently, I was lost at sea. Chris and the audience today, agreed that I should b able to rewatch the film, with Open Captioning. Thank all of u! It was a whole different experience and filled in the blanks, for me. Thank you for making this enjoyable time available. I can’t think of another entity that...
