Goldfinch.Cafe HQ — Restaurant in Bernardsville

What a treat it was stopping here on a whim! I was visiting from out of town and wanted to get a GOOD coffee after my gym workout. I looked for coffee shops as I was driving through Bernardsville and found Goldfinch Cafe. It was just around the corner from the Main Street area, which peaked my interest and is why I stopped there.

I was greeted by Gabríel who asked me why I was late: they had opened 3 months ago, and this was the first time he’s seen me.

He then offered me (and the other first time customer who entered after me) a free espresso in order to taste the beans he had this week. He wanted to make sure we liked his coffee before ordering. Of note, he gets new/different beans every week.

We talked about coffee, his travels from Romania to the US, and shared many laughs over our espresso.

I ultimately got an Americano. The coffee was perfect. I got more than a GOOD coffee stopping here. If you want a coffee experience, visit Gabríel. I will definitely be returning...

Gabriel is our fearless leader on days we need to get our kids to nap in the car, because kids. We go on our epic 26 mile round trip journey to see the "cookie Cafe" as our kids refer to Goldfinch since Gabriel always indulges them. Oh, yeah, coffee! We're coffee snobs that found him via Google and decided to try it out 4 months ago. Ever since then, we have been making 2 to 4 trips out every week.
