Penguin Ice Cream — Restaurant in Bernardsville

The rating is not for the quality of ice cream is more for the service it provides. It seems like management can't put it together on making sure Vanilla Ice cream is available for the Customers. Its been a issue they been having for a long time. How does this Ice cream shop continuously fall short on providing Vanilla ice cream to their customers? Its the most common flavor and one would think to always have it available but no is not. There hours of operation is up till 9pm but by the time 6pm comes along Hard Vanilla Ice cream is not available. Is this the new norm? One would now have to call and reserve there ice cream before it runs out ? Get it together Penguin!!! Vanilla flavor is the most common ice cream and need to be avaliable at All Time!...

After waiting in line for almost 30 minutes the staff completely ignored my very hard to ignore 6ft 3 friend. They continued to serve people behind him even as he waited, money in hand and tying to get eye contact to make an order. I have no idea why. He is very outgoing and definitely presents as gay - so you have to wonder if there is a bias there as hard as that is to believe in 2018. Thinking back on the experience still makes me extremely uncomfortable. Penguin is the perfect neighborhood ice cream shop. My wife and I would drive out of our way to come here and now that we live in the area, we have started walking here with our baby and dog to get everyone a little treat. Even our little greyhound gets dessert when we come here as they have dog treat ice cream sandwiches.

That said, the humans love it too. With interesting and classic flavors and a high quality product, you couldn't ask for more from an ice cream shop. However it is also the friendly and efficient staff that makes this place run as well as it does. I'm a big fan of both the people and the product...
