My family and I have been ordering from the Bernard’s Cafe multiple times per week since quarantine began. We recently placed an order and along with it came a sheet informing us of their meal that feeds 4-6 people that included 1 salad, 1 side, and 1 entree. Today we decided to try it. We ordered the chicken parm, penne vodka, and caesar salad. The total was $40. It took almost no time to get here, and let me tell you I have never been more satisfied with a meal for 6 than this one from Bernard’s Cafe. We were overwhelmed with the amount of food (there will definitely be leftovers) and the taste, it was INCREDIBLE. Will definitely be ordering again.

Here are reviews from the fellow diners, they wanted to share their opinion: “overall this was fire. also good bread says a lot about a food establishment. definitely made with love. big ups.” “yo i’m from a little italian town so i a bit suss’d our ordering a double pasta spec. albeit, this shiz was a g slam. housed about a pound and a half of pasta after some hardcore boozing and didn’t even think about blowing chunks. shouts out to you my dudes🤟🏼“ “quick service, delicious food, wasn’t expecting as much food as we received and was very satisfied. would...

My friend and I were looking for a place to have lunch. Not being from the area, we looked on our phone for places around my car. We came across the Bernards Cafe, and are we sure glad that we did! The menu was huge, and although it was a Friday during Lent and we couldn't eat meat, there were so many choices that it wasn't a problem. I had the shrimp fajita rice bowl that was amazing and she had the hummus and tapenade wrap that she said was the best she had ever eaten. I am a huge fan of iced tea, and it was fantastic. I had 3 glasses! It was sort of between lunch and dinner time, so we were the only ones there and the waitress, Denise, was so friendly and attentive, yet not intrusive. They let us sit there for 2 1/2 hours so we could relax and chat with one another. She checked in on us every once in a while and asked if we needed anything, like a refill on our drinks. She was very sweet. You can see how much care and attention to quality the owners put into their food and it was very much appreciated. We know that the next time we are in the Bernardsville area we are definitely going to be stopping by to get something delicious to eat. We are looking...

Have enjoyed good food here for years and supported them throughout the pandemic ordering takeout. The woman taking the orders has gotten progressively ruder and more abrupt with each passing week. And each time I ask for the veggie burger to be well done, she ignores me and it arrives a barely cooked pile of mush. The final straw - we are unable to get through on the telephone, even on a weeknight! After listening to their answering machine 30 times, we give up. The online ordering system on their website doesn’t work - can’t place an order. If they needed the business, they’d ANSWER THE PHONE and HIRE ENOUGH POLITE STAFF. We’ve transferred our business to Trattoria Mediterranea in Bedminster where a live person promptly answers the phone and politely takes our order every time and we receive large portions of delicious food. The 1 star is for the food we’ve eaten...

Bernards Cafe is a favorite spot for affordable comfort food. You won't be coming here for the trendy experience or grand cuisine, but you also won't be disappointed. The menu selection is massive, making it an ideal spot for a good, quick, hearty meal or takeout when you get tired of the million Italian restaurants in Bernardsville. We especially love the meatloaf, the French dip, prime rib sandwich au jus, Jalapeño poppers, French onion soup, pastas, and more, but you'll definitely want to have their famous Osso Bucco. Also, much respect to Bernards Cafe for not inflating their prices with the usual "Barnardsville Tax" where everything in town is 20-40% more expensive than it should be. This is a family favorite we enjoy a couple times a month. Well recommended.

Okay so the atmosphere is fine I will give it four stars for comfortability. But my husband ordered the western omelet with wheat toast and homefries. The home fries with the oily so I assume they were fresh and hot but to my surprise it was very cold the wheat toast was very cold the butter didn't melt but the western omelet he gave it 4 stars. I ordered a cheeseburger well-done with tomatoes and lettuce only, my burger came back medium what lettuce tomatoes and pickles. My fries were cold. But all in all we enjoyed each other's company and then environment was really nice. will I go back no but it was a great experience.

Despite Cafe in the name, I would categorize Bernards as being a higher end diner. The atmosphere was very cozy and clean. The menu is typical diner fare, but above average in quality. My Reuben was toasted to perfection, having just the right amount of sauerkraut and tender , flavorful, corned beef. Not chewy or overly fatty. The onion rings were tasty and mozzarella sticks about as good as they can get. The coffee was above average and well worth a refill. Service was quick but on par with typical diner service. I would definitely go back there again.
