I for one find the mall itself to be extremely junky for the most part, but I've found fun stuff there from time to time. (For example, I just bought some Tiffin "Madeira" pattern stems there for my own dining room, and was tickled to nab 'em for less than five bucks apiece.)
But back to the actual reason I first wrote this review:
I wrote this review more in response to the two negative reviews about kids and less about the mall itself.
There. I said it.
Were I a mall owner, I would likely not allow children in my shop at ALL.
Our society has, woefully, become accustomed to the idea that parents can and should tote their progeny along with them anywhere they go and fear absolutely no repercussions should said progeny misbehave.
HERE'S THE WHOLE MEGILLAH, FOLKS: A mall owner must watch after the fiduciary interests of his or her tenants. It's a duty; it's not an option. (In other words, people rent space in these places, and expect the owners to give them service in return for rents paid.)
LIke it or not, it's the owner's job to make certain that everything's running smoothly in these places at all times, and it's also his or her job to ascertain that liabilities (both to the customer AND the vendors/tenants) are kept as low as possible at all times.
Not one of us reading this page -- save those folks who were really there the night Ms. Swihart brought her ill behaved progeny into the store -- will ever know exactly what happened that evening. It's true.
That said, I'm choosing to side with the owner given how I see most children today being allowed to run things.
Yes, Ma'am, you SHOULD do the right thing and pay for what your child breaks.
If you didn't want to shoulder that responsibility, Ma'am, you shouldn't have reproduced in the first place. (There were, after all, over seven and a half billion people on the planet already when you decided to bring your kid into the equation.)
No one forced you to churn out kids, lady, let alone kids who get to do bad things and then get off Scot-free with absolutely ZERO consequences.)
Just think of the dreadful lesson you've already taught your offspring by getting enraged and trying to malign a locally owned business just because YOU didn't want to step up to the plate and pay for something that your child broke.
Apparently, too, it wasn't enough for you to turn to Google Maps alone to try to malign this locally owned business, as I quite clearly see that you and others in your clan have already followed suit on Yelp.

Read moreI found a typewriter like I used thru college from the 1930's or 1940's but it doesn't look like it works. They are firm on this price, at $150. A big selection of Navajo jewelry. They have some Desert Rose and some dark purple Fiesta Ware I have never seen before. There's a pair of expensive crocodile or snake Western boots. They had some loose photos and a post card that was filled out in fountain pen which I then addressed and sent to a friend. There's old style Levi's, but zip and not button fly, which was what I was looking for. These maybe weren't shrink to fit but had the red label. They had free coffee. The staff was nice. There were some books I wanted, but they were in a 50% off booth but not marked. I found a pin I forgot to buy. This store is big and fun. They have a couple of giant small bottle collections but needed to have them lower. Some stuff looks new, but I guess is older than I thought. They have real records for Victrola and a big Polaroid camera only $20. Many things were discounted. Fun to shop. Read moreWow!😡To my great disappointment one of my favorite antique stores that I frequent has just treated us very poorly. Apple Tree Antique Gallery on 39th Expressway, a store we have been going to regularly for years, has just lost my vote. My husband, myself and my two kids just went in and we started looking around like we always do. This time the owner, who we have had a good rapport with in the past started following us around closely like we were trouble. Then she began reprimanding my kids at every turn, micro managing our shopping until it became unbearable. She acted like we were there to smash up the place. Btw, we have NEVER broken anything in the store. I was watching my children closely like I always do and they were not being rowdy. I got fed up and left. To me it is discrimination to treat a customer like this with no grounds. It is discrimination against people with children!! We have been loyal customers of this place, spending a chunk of money every time we come. I have also recommended the store many times to friends. I will no longer spend my money at this establishment. For me and Apple Tree, it...
