Saw that this place had good reviews and wanted to see for myself. The environment is very homey and welcoming. I was greeted by both a male and a female when I arrived and after I ordered a mocha they asked whether whole milk was okay to which I responded that's fine and the male retrieves an already made mocha from the fridge. I think most people would agree that freshmade coffee is most desirable especially when you're paying $5 for a cup. After gauging my response and seeing that I was a little uneasy they asked if I could try it to see if I liked it, after I did I remarked that it was a bit too sweet for me. The male said that's fine we can make another. Feeling satisfied I added a tip for the inconvenience of having to remake the drink. As I was standing towards the front I was told that we'll have it right out for you almost as if to say you can stand somewhere else. After I moved I noted that the male had left with the cup that was from the refrigerator and a new one. He came back with apparently a new cup and the drink inside. After waving me over he said here's your new drink and then mumbled under his breath that it was totally not from the fridge. I asked him what he said and he said oh nothing and pass me the drink. I did taste the drink and it tasted just as sweet as the prior one, now whether the drink was just the old drink put into a new cup I couldn't say but it definitely tasted that way. Too bad too because I really liked the environment there, but the experience was not good. When you're paying $5 for a cup of coffee it shouldn't come into question whether or not it should...
Read moreI rarely write reviews, but I wanted to submit one for Serve because of the many ways Kendra and her staff get it "right", and not just right but with authenticity and heart. I only discovered Serve Coffee & Community about a year ago. It immediately became my go-to coffee shop. I do a lot of work on the go on my laptop, and coffee shops are where I do my best work. Serve has become my "second office" and many times even feels like family. I appreciate so many things about Serve...the delicious coffee (I am a drip coffee girl but sometimes I enjoy the specialty drinks too), the great prices, the comfortable, warm and cozy atmosphere (and the all-important access to electrical outlets), the location on the main drag in Bethany (with plenty of off-street parking in back), and especially the friendly, caring, kind staff. I am an artist/photographer, and Kendra let me hang some of my work on the "artist wall" for a few months last year. I have appreciated every aspect of my encounters (and drinks!) with Serve Coffee & Community. To me, the name is perfect - they do a great job of serving coffee and goodies, and they sincerely want to serve the community. I can't believe it took me so long to...
Read moreCoffee here is always good!
They really need more than one person working in the morning rush, though. One person trying to make 10 lattes is a long wait (and it probably stresses them out)! I can only come here in the mornings when I have a half hour to kill. Would come more frequently if it was more efficient. ❤️
I waited for about 30 minutes and still had to leave without a coffee in hand today. He was still up at the register taking orders for more people that walked in. I had used my freebie card and now lost that. :( The guy at the register was apologetic. I would have preferred my card back.
Only advice I can offer is maybe make coffees as they are ordered, only take a couple of orders and then make them. Instead of helping everyone at the register first and gathering multiple orders before making them? Maybe...
