The parking is a bit challenging but once you see there are no dedicated spaces it's cool. The menu is short, and the homestyle hand made potato chips are super crispy and tasty. There's an #Atlanta BBQ shop that serves these plain chips with season salt and a sour cream dill dip as an option so we are trying to get my daughter to give us their recipe to share with Stray Dog. I got two lunches to go, and split it with another person. We are our fill and had enough for a 3rd portion later. The guacamole 🥑 is made fresh per order. Beef was local and good. Chicken breast was large, tender and juicy and hand breaded, fried to order and all sandwiches were on fresh buns. The sweet 🍠 potato fries were fresh and had Maldon salt flakes. We didn't order any dessert. I saw a table of men get served bowls of popcorn 🍿 in dog water dishes! I didn't see that on the menu, but it may be a complimentary treat you have to know to ask for. The diner is renovated in industrial style. The last time I tried to come here, it was during the pandemic and Stray Dog wasn't open so we went to Bethany Boom-a-Rang up the street which is a retro diner with all the trimmings. Stray Dog is more my style and is on the main strip of antique stores and shopping across from Southern Nazarene University. They sell kitsch items like coasters and T-shirt 👕 stuff. Their slogan dog looks like Daisy from the cartoon Blondie and Dagwood, but with missed hair and what looks like a fried egg, yolk only on its crown. So we'll have to think about that. Great food, great staff, clean and fresh. Destination shopper dining. All ages welcome. Takeaway is fast and easy. They accept cash. The 🗞️📰 newspaper went out of business for this area, and the stand is 75 cents for a vintage paper area from 2020, before the...
Read moreAn Unforgettable First Bite at Stray Dog Take Out! My first experience with Stray Dog Take Out was absolutely phenomenal, a solid 10 out of 10, and it won't be my last! I honestly can't thank them enough for their incredible kindness and the simply delicious food. I completely spaced on the pickup time, and by the time I called, it was a little past 6 PM. I was fully expecting to just be out of luck, but to my surprise, the person who answered the phone was incredibly understanding. They told me they'd held onto my Family-sized Barbecue Pork Tenderloin meal and were more than happy to stay open a few extra minutes just for me to swing by. That kind of customer service is rare and truly made my day. When I arrived, my order was hot, ready, and waiting. The barbecue pork tenderloin was exquisite – tender, flavorful, and perfectly basted with their special sauce. It was clear the brining and seasoning paid off. And those cheesy potatoes? Absolute comfort food perfection. Paired with a soft roll, it was the ideal hassle-free, mouth-watering dinner. But let's talk about the banana pudding. Oh my goodness. I've had banana pudding countless times, but Stray Dog's version? It was hands down the best I have ever tasted. Creamy, perfectly sweet, and just the right amount of banana and wafers. It was the perfect ending to an already fantastic meal. Stray Dog Take Out truly delivers on their promise of making dinner easy and delicious. Their food is top-notch, and their customer service goes above and beyond. We will absolutely be...
Read moreMy wife and I ate at Stray Dog Cafe today while we were in Bethany. We went there on a recommendation from a friend and we were very impressed. We got there about half an hour before they closed at 2:00 and there was only one table available. It was packed with people. They also have a very nice patio outside. We each ordered hamburgers and fries. The fries were really, really good. I ate them before starting on my burger because I love my french fries to be hot and they were. The burger was done up perfectly and the buns are excellent. The buns are toasted on the grill before serving. The meat quality was great. I had a bacon burger and the bacon is not paper thin like many places. It is a very comfortable and relaxing place and the price is just right. We got there just before quitting time and my wife ordered coffee and I ordered a cold drink. They brought my drink and told my wife the coffee would be a little later because they were making a fresh pot. We didn't realize it was quitting time or we wouldn't have ordered coffee because we were probably the last to use out of that pot. I ordered a piece of Key Lime pie and it was very good. My wife doesn't like Key Lime pie because it is normally too sweet or too limey. She loved this pie. The new owners, Susie and Joe, visited with us as they did with others as they could. It was very busy in there. I give this new business 5 stars and it is perfectly suited...
