I brought my wedding dress here for a simple hem and strap adjustment. When I returned to try on the dress, I discovered four visible holes torn in the fabric of the skirt and train, damage that was highly visible and was not there when I dropped it off. When I brought this to Anne's attention, she became immediately defensive and dismissive. Rather than showing concern or taking responsibility, she responded with hostility and made it very uncomfortable to even discuss the issue. Due to her reaction and the lack of accountability, I no longer felt comfortable leaving my dress with her. I was entrusting and paying a professional to handle my property with care and now, due to the damage that said professional caused, I have to find another seamstress to do repairs, with only a month left until my wedding, and at additional cost. Additionally, I was never informed that someone else, not Anne, would be taking the dress off-site to perform the alterations. I was led to believe that she would be handling everything personally, based on her repeated references to her years of experience. This lack of transparency was extremely troubling, especially considering the damage that occurred. What should have been a joyful step in my wedding planning turned into an upsetting and stressful ordeal. I would strongly caution anyone against bringing a valuable or sentimental item here, especially for something as meaningful and time sensitive as a wedding. I wish I had looked closer at the reviews on here because many of the reviews here echo my experience and I would implore you to consider them carefully before calling.
For reference of cost I paid a 35$ deposit and 85$ when I picked up the dress for just the hem and shortening the spaghettis straps
Edit/update: I have now taken the dress to someone else and the comparison of the experience is night and day to working with Anne, the main reason I wanted to update this review though is because the service wasn't even done correctly. The hem that I paid for was still too long, additionally she only shortened the horse hair and the slip layers of the dress so all of the under skirts were way too long, there is no way I would have been able to dance or walk in the dress without stepping on it. So I paid over 100$ for a service that was...
Read moreAugust 5, 2021. Horrible abuse!! Brought in a blouse in winter. Said I needed in Spring. Called in Spring, made appt and dropped off dress. Made appt for pickup of blouse and dress. 1st attempt for retrieval of items. She couldn’t locate what I brought in and they were not completed. Made appt again. 2nd attempt for retrieval of items. Once again couldn’t remember or locate and not completed. I explained I drove over an hour round trip two separate days. She said she would give reduced price for inconvenience. Made appt again. 3rd attempt for retrieval of items. Not completed again. Made appt. again and said I would call day before to make sure they were completed. She called day before appt. and said they weren’t completed. (4th attempted) Made appt this week on Tuesday on phone for Thursday. 5th attempt. Couldn’t locate items today and claimed I didn’t have an appt. I sat for 75 minutes while she waited on everyone else, answered the phone, lied to a customer (as I had been there long enough to see) . Blouse was located and she said she would do while I waited. Finally in non airconditioning, I said I wanted my stuff although not completed. She said I owed $10 for blouse. We went back in the sewing room and found the NOT completed dress. I paid the $10 took blouse and dress and left. Found a parking ticket on my car for $15, my parking meter had expired while in there 75 minutes! Got home and she had sewn 1 OF 4 seams on the blouse and left 4 safety pins in the areas not completed. POOR business AND wrong on so many levels! Never...
Read moreI took my mother's wedding dress here to be redesigned as a custom dress for my rehearsal dinner. I knew it would be a long shot but when I brought it to Anne she said she would think about how to make the changes and ask her colleague. I told her even if it was decided that she couldn't make the changes, it is ok just let me know. She kept the dress. She didn't get back to me. I had to call her multiple times to ask how things were coming along. She kept telling me she was trying to see how to make the adjustments. She never called me back, it was always me calling. Sometimes she spoke as though she didn't remember who I was or which dress/project was mine. Finally the rehearsal date was coming up and when I called she told me I never told her when the date was. I told her I would come to get the dress from her. At this point it was too late for me to even bring it to someone else to do the adjustments. When I went by to the shop to get the dress back it was open and I could hear the TV on in the back but when I called out to say hello she never came to the front. I saw my dress on the rack near the door (no harm no foul) and took it and left. It was a very unorganized, poor communication and unfortunate situation. I guess I am just happy I got the dress back. I told her I wouldn't have even been upset if she tried an alteration and it didn't work out. When else would I use a dress from the 90's? It is too bad. Unfortunately I wouldn't recommend...
