I found Marla’s pop-up shop today at One Of A Kind Chicago. The sales lady was so unprofessional and rude I felt compelled to share.
I was drawn to one of the dresses, and asked if I could try it on. The woman scoffed at me and said “I don’t think we have one big enough.” I am not a small woman, but typically wear about a size 12-14. Marla herself peeked over and said “a large should work” and this saleswoman responded with “Marla they’re cut small.” At this point I made a joke, saying “yeah, I’m not that small.... but this large size looks like it would suffice.” The saleswoman said “take off your sweater then” and very reluctantly took the dress off the rack and unzipped it.
I put on the dress and there was plenty of room to zip it; instead the woman halfheartedly pinched it together in the back and said, “I’m not going to zip it because it would probably break the zipper.” At this point I was completely offended and hastily took off the dress and left the store.

Read moreI own a lovely collection of Marla Duran designs and receive compliments each time I wear her garments. Marla's attention to fit and careful textile selection make her garments eye-catching and distinctive while maintaining wearability. I have shopped with Marla at her studio and during craft shows and feel special each time I work with her. Marla always helps me make selections based on my own, unique style and never pressures me to buy. I appreciate that her designs are inclusive to a diverse range of sizes and ages, as I can purchase Marla's clothes for myself and as gifts for my mom. I love shopping with Marla and recommend her brand to any woman seeking well-crafted,...
Read moreI'm an artist that also does the One of a Kind Show in Chicago. Probably 18 yrs. now! And every year I make sure to stop at Marla's booth to ck out her colorful unique clothing. I have never found anything but professionalism from her. It's sad that one disgruntled young person can leave a bad review because she got her feelings hurt, where no ill will was intended. Then she rallies her friends to chime in, where they don't even know what actually happened. Very sad and not helping her generation look any better. Grow up. Btw Marla, just had an opportunity to ck ur website! Loving the sale pieces. I'll...
