This was my first time at Le Vernis and it was disappointing to say the least. It was unwelcoming and slightly dirty.
I have wanted to go for a while, especially after seeing their general work and how well received they are on Instagram. When, I arrived to my appointment for a paraffin manicure and they only gave me a classic manicure, which was overall not a big deal. I know this however, because is described as a paraffin mani online and what I got were different. But I feel like the issue was that I booked standard manicure and not gel, dip, acrylics, etc. I felt like I was bothering my technician for being there. I wasn’t greeted by my technician and they didn’t try to have small talk with me, like most of the other techs were doing with their clients. I was just sitting in uncomfortable silence. My tech also bounced around between other clients during my appointment between steps and didn’t wash or sanitize hands in between. My nails were done, however my calcium spots were still noticeable, the skin around my fingers look worse than when I went in, and my nails were still jagged by the end of the appointment.
The floor was also littered with nail clippings and discarded unused faux nails under my station. And the water bowl to dip my hands into was dirty. At the bottom there were hard bits of things (it wasn’t a salt scrub or anything like that). And I watched several technicians just dump the water out of the bowls when they were finished and stack them back up to use.
I did not feel welcomed during my appointment at Le Vernis, especially as a first time customer. I would not recommend.
edit for their response: 1. I am aware that places add salt to their water. Salt dissolves, this stuff did not. And I watch Johnny fill my bowl with water and immediately bring it to the table. 2. It was not the end of the day. I went in at 4:50, the shop closes at 7. There is no excuse for lack of cleanliness no matter how close to the end of the day it is. I have been at other nail salons where they have cleaned their stations despite it being 1-1.5 hours till close and they have had customers until close. 3. The receptionists job is to greet customers. I am talking about Johnny, my technician who could not give me the time of day.
I have absolutely nothing to gain from leaving a negative review. All I am doing is sharing my experience for other people to see. Le Vernis staff continues to be unprofessional and I would reconsider...
Read moreDo not go here!!! I have done my own dip nails since covid and decided to treat myself and let someone else do them. I booked a dip service, pedicure, and eyebrow wax. The woman who did my nails was very inexperienced and clearly new as the other techs kept a watchful eye on her and corrected her techniques a few times. I would not have cared had my nails come out good but that was not the case. Pedicure was ok, massage was lacking but otherwise fine. I am disappointed my color chipped off so easily. The tech used the e drill on my nails and ended up grinding down through the dip multiple times damaging my natural nail in the process. She didn't put a clear layer of dip over the dip color and did not use the sealant on top properly either. My nails looked okay for a day and then the top coat began chipping off all of my nails. I am not rough on my hands whatsoever, this should not have happened on 2 day old nails! When I do dip myself they look great even at 4 weeks and don't chip/lift. I went back to the salon to have them fixed and was relieved another tech was going to fix them only for her to pass me off to the tech who originally did them. The tech had another client there who also had major issues with her nails as 4 broke off in a week's time. The tech cut my cuticles and side of my finger so badly I was bleeding from almost every finger. It was apparent she was annoyed she had to "fix" them. The "fix" was applying more dip without shaping it so my nails look misshapen and bulky with bloody cuticles, great service! It's a little over a week from the "fix" and 3 of my nails have broken and others are lifting. I haven't broken a nail in over a year. I am absolutely livid I paid what I did only to end up with nails that look awful, did not last, and bloody cut up fingers. The eyebrow wax was $17, I have very sparse brows and can't believe I was charged that much. The outside part and middle was not touched at all. The table had old dirty paper on it, not very hygienic. Over $100 for this terrible experience wasted. Go somewhere else because this place is...
Read moreI visited this salon for the first time today and left feeling very disappointed, especially after reading so many positive reviews online.
I came a few minutes early and my dip powder service started immediately, which was very nice. Soaking off the dip powder was fine overall. When it came time to apply the new dip powder, I noticed that Sara (the nail technician) did not use a base clear dip powder and instead went straight to applying the color - I have been getting dip powder nails for several years and I have never seen a nail tech omit the base powder. She haphazardly applied the blue color directly to my nails and did many dips, making the powder too thick/uneven. Then, there was little red flecks in the final clear dip powder coat that she used, leading to the appearance of red dots on my nails which makes them look dirty/unpolished.
From there, she asked me what nail shape I like and I said "square with the edges a little rounded" and proceeded to unevenly file my nails resulting in some nails having a "squoval" shape and others a more "natural" shape. At the end, she quickly put a gel top coat on, rubbed lotion into my hands/arms, and sent me on my way.
For a $60 dip powder service, I expected a much greater attention to detail and better quality. The top coat is already peeling off my left thumb nail after only being on for a few hours and there is a bubble on my left pointer finger nail making the texture of it rough. The dip powder application was uneven and too thick in some spots resulting in a terrible appearance. Quite frankly, I have never seen a final coat of dip powder have so many red/black flecks that it actually ruins the color underneath. At no point did Sara pause to examine her work and instead decided to rush through the entire appointment. Overall not happy with the work performed & will not...
