I've been a member for just over a month now and so far I'm loving it. The staff are cheerful, welcoming, and happy to help out. It brightens my day when someone greets me out on the gym floor while I'm getting my reps in. The owner's often there in the evening. He's a great guy, always got a smile on his face. My Spark Session with PT Zach, was awesome. He's respectful, super informative, and had a great perspective. We covered a lot of material, and I felt good about myself and my goals going forward.
It's been a long journey finding a gym I feel comfortable at. I tried several PF branches and was never able to stick to a consistent gym schedule because I just got the ick vibes every time. That place is vile. Their "no judgement zone" is a pretty loaded claim, when in reality they'll ring a bell on anyone who's putting in effort, while their other patrons creep on each other. What a zoo. I tried my work's private gym here-and-there too, but it's a small space. And working out with my coworkers and clients just... wasn't working out for me for various reasons.
Flash has been great because they've got all the equipment I need. They even have some machines I haven't seen elsewhere. The glute drive, and the high-incline treadmill have both changed the game for me. I do wish there were more space in general; some machines are wicked close together, and the floor exercise/barre area can get pretty cramped and cluttered. The locker room is also quite snug. But they're working well with the finite space they have, and members are courteous and patient with each other when it comes to sharing space and equipment, or just waiting. When classes let out in the afternoon there's usually a lot of youngsters around. It can get busy. But the gym is a totally awesome place for kiddos to hang out after school. It's great to see folks of all ages and abilities all here to do the thing!
In general I've felt surprisingly comfortable with the usual crowd here. I'm an out trans person with some torn ligaments, and a visible medical condition. And haven't had an issue! Naturally, folks are going to look at each other. But there's no nasty glances, no commentary, no questions. Nobody cares! Everyone's there to get their reps in. My partner came in with me one day for a free trial and they remarked that "Everyone's so buff here! Like, everyone." And it's true. People here are focused on their own bodies and it really shows.
Being comfy and empowered out on the floor has made a huge difference. I've finally been able to hit the consistency I've wanted for myself. I'm hitting my goals, seeing new gains, making progress.
I feel good about coming to and being at Flash. Come and get "buff,"...
Read moreI love this gym, however I needed to cancel my account. I called last year in October to verify I had canceled my account ( sometimes technology/systems can be glitchy. So I made sure to call after. I called in October ( this was noted on my account, that I called for this verification) I was told by the employee that he couldn’t help me with this (not sure what that meant ) but he told Me the manager was not in and that he would leave a note for her to call me on the following Monday. I never got a call or a voicemail. I called the week after and the gym must of been busy because I still Got no answer. I called today because I got a text saying my account payment could not be processed. So that was upsetting because that meant I was paying still while I wasnt even going to the gym during this time and called to verify this already. She told me she saw I called in October and asked about this. The notes were there however she told me she needed proof of cancelation. She told me she could do me “a favor “ and waive the lateee cancelation fee! ( lol are you kidding me ?) however I would still have to pay for the month of January. Paying for one month was a big deal but the fact I had to pay anything for already canceling my account in October andddd making a call and being told this would get fixed and someone would call me months ago and didn’t really is t right put! I’ve been. Member there for a few years. Money meant more to them than my issue!!!...
Read moreI joined Blink in Beverly as soon as it opened. Love how extremely clean it is, especially during COVID and they adhere to all protocols of spraying, cleaning and making sure patrons are wearing their masks correctly. Budget friendly and parking is not an issue. The staff are super friendly, accommodating and always greeted with a smile. As for personal training sessions, super easy to schedule, accommodating and easy to book. I have been training with Jason Uga three times a week since October of 2020. Jason is very professional, yet patient and understanding as I am not as young as I once was! His encouragement has given me confidence and I am extremely pleased with my progress. He pushes me out of my comfort level. His program for me never gets old or stale - he changes things up a lot making my workouts interesting and challenging using new and varied techniques along with all different types of fitness equipment (martial arts, kettlebells, sand bags, etc.). Training with Jason is never dull, it's always full of surprises and the added bonus is when you are training, he always explains what is happening to your body/muscles. Jason is a awesome trainer and has helped me to reach great levels of health and fitness that I could not have reached without his training and motivation. Highly...
