I LOST SO MUCH HAIR, IT CAME OUT IN PIECES. Once my braids were complete I loved them. It took 6 hrs for back length knotless box braids with human hair curls.. The lady doing my hair (Amy) as well as the other hair braiders were very friendly. Two minor issues were, one my appointment along with 6 other clients was at 8am and we all waited in the parking lot til close to 9am for her and her sisters to arrive; two she has only a few hair colors to select from. But the BIG issue came 7 weeks later, which is not a long time for braids! Picture this, as I conditioned and detangled each braid my hair is coming out in CLUMPS. CLUMPS! Then when I un-braided my real hair closer to the scalp I had a knot. The knot was on each braid but, the knots around my front and back hairline were bigger and would not detangle. At first I was confused then I remembered before each braid she twisted the base of my roots several times then braided the hair in. Thus locking the roots almost like dreads. The knot was my natural hair twisted several times, dried with massive amounts of gel, and around my hairline the knots were twice as big because she twisted my hairline more times and tighter to keep the braids from sliping out. My MASSIVE AMOUNT of breakage came from her braiding style. I have fine hair so the twisting of my natural hair at the root several times tightly before braiding made the roots of my hair act like locks as it grew out and would not detangle. I have worn braids many times, some for much longer and I have never had new growth knots nor have I ever had my hair braided and it was difficult to detangle when removing the braids. IF YOU ARE GETTING BRAIDS AS A PROTECTIVE SYLE AND WOULD LIKE TO KEEP MORE HAIR THAN YOU LOSE I DO NOT RECOMMEND...
Read moreSuch an awesome experience. This was my first time using Martha’s. The service was fast. They were able to do small box braids in very little time. I received small box braids. Once they started with my hair, they were finished in not more than 3 hours. The braids are very neatly done. I was concerned because I have breakage in the front of my hair due to my own error. I was told by other braiders that the broken part could not be caught for braiding. I informed them and they said no problem… and asked if I’d like them to braid the spot if they could catch it. Well.. they caught it! No problem at all. When I’ve gone to previous braiders in the past, my head would be tight or sore… not this time! No tightness or soreness with Martha’s! The overall experience was great. The braiders were happy and pleasant. The atmosphere was peaceful and respectful… which made my experience a pleasant one. I will definitely be going back . They are now my #1...
Read moreI had my hair braided twice here. First time was awesome and I did have some unexpected shedding but I want to talk about my 2nd visit. I will not be back. There was a guest that day, they didn't like the style I chose so I picked something off the wall. After that they began to talk about me in their prime language not knowing that my ancestors are from a sister country. As they talked about me, my style, etc. I answered in French and they got silent. I explained that we express our culture as Africans living in America through our hair and our many gifts. I just found out that my dad's side of the family share genetics from their country. Message: don't assume that English is our only language... I took English, French, Spanish, German, Latin....and get to know others before judging. I'm going to take to take these down in a couple of weeks and let my braider from Togo do my next set. This was also expensive for what I...
