Ream's Meat Market — Local services in Blackberry Township

I was expecting no less than excellence. What I received was disappointment. People are giving this place 5 stars and if what I got is indicative of what they sell, I don't get it. With the products I received, 2 stars is very generous. I bought 3 Rib-eye steaks and the deckle was removed! If you like this cut of meat you know that's the "gold." Flavorful and tender when done right..If you're thinking why did I buy it? Because I didn't notice until I got home. That's my bad. I also bought a couple Fillets, and though they looked good they both had a tendon string running through it. These were both were very expensive cuts. Both disappointing. Lastly I bought 4 of their brats. 2 of them had chunks of non-descriptive hard things.. Like bone. For the price and because of their reputation none of this should have been in the cooler. People take for granted that because the sign says Reams or maybe Reams is taking for granted that people can be fooled into thinking everything they sell is top quality is wrong. . Nice family run store. They've got everything you need in one shop, fresh cut meats, sausages, bread and other grocery items.

Meat department is certainly better than the Big Box store stuff, but you can do better in some smaller towns or direct from your favorite slaughterhouse.

Fine cut brats were pretty good, I think easily the best sausages they have. The other sausage variety were similar to what you find at most places that make sausage. These other sausages are decently made and spiced in the spirit of the sausage that it's called. But many of these sausages are traditionally made using older European methods with varying curing, drying methods. Both spices and grinds are also off compared to tradional methods for the sausages.

Please don't get me wrong. This place makes good sausages in the spirit of flavors that they are going for. You can expect to find well made sausages here, just not exactly to each old world traditional methods . I suppose I was hoping to find an old world Salumeria, that it is not.

This place is STUPID GOOD. Over the top. I have never been here before, and I've lived 20 minutes from this place for over a decade. Why didn't I go here sooner??? We received free bier meat sticks since we were first-timers. Now I know why they hand these out, because now we'll have to buy a truck load of them when we come back next week as they are insane good!!

There's something about this place that brings joy and a smile to EVERYONE there. Literally, EVERYONE was happy to be here because they KNEW they were at the best butcher shop in the entire Midwest. (I can't say the Chicago area because we are fortunately nice and far away from that terrible city).

Keep up the amazing service, and we WILL be back next week to spend a couple hundred more dollars on meat!! This place will be our new routine shopping...
