I’m not one to write a review, but the experience my fiancé and I had at village jewelers was on that I wouldn’t wish on anyone. We took my engagement ring in to simply be resized. The ring is a center triangle shaped diamond with two floating diamonds on both sides of the triangle. This is what the design was before we came in at least. The ring was sized and we picked it up. This is when we noticed the first problem. One of the diamonds had become bent out of place. The diamond on the other side was attached to the ring. We took the ring back to the jeweler to be fixed and they simply welded the diamond to the center triangle stone. Notice that I mentioned before that the two diamonds were originally floating. The jeweler had welded the diamonds, unsemetricaly and there was also a crack in one of the welds. At this point we were just upset that the jeweler would take it upon himself to redesign the whole structure of the ring. We took the ring back and got back our money for the price of the resizing. The wonen up front were supper kind and and understanding but the jeweler did not take responsibility for the damage. The damage that was done is leaving us with a dent in our pockets to attempt to get the ring back in it’s original state. Earlier this fall, we were given what was left of a ring that belonged to a relative that had passed away.

We took the stones to Charlie Travis of Village Jewelers to brainstorm what could be made from the diamonds. We decided on a pendant.

I love jewelry from the early 20th century so that gave us some direction. We looked at jewelry I already owned and some that Charlie had at the store. We drew little doodles on a piece of paper. Charlie said he had enough to get started.

Soon, Charlie emailed a mock-up of a proposed design and it was perfect in every way. A few weeks later, the finished pendant was ready. And WOW. It is everything we could have hoped for and more.

In addition to the diamonds we provided, Charlie added some channel sapphires and the piece is made in platinum with a platinum chain.

I called in to Village Jewelers to ask if they did watch repair. Charlie was very helpful and just told me to stop by and they’d see what they could do (he said they could fix it as long as it wasn’t an intricate mechanical issue, under which circumstances they would send it off for repair). Upon arriving he fixed the problem within a couple minutes and despite my multiple requests to pay he insisted that it was no problem and that he was happy to help. They have an absolutely beautiful store and when I asked, he took the time to tell me all about their business, knowing I was not there for a purchase.
