Oh, honey, let me spill the tea on our divine night at Thistle in Boothbay Harbor. Picture this: seven fabulous souls, anointed by the gastronomic god himself, gathered for a soirée of epicurean ecstasy. Enter Kourtnee, our server extraordinaire. Move over, mere mortals – Kourtnee's finesse elevated our dining escapade to a celestial level. The culinary symphony commenced with a rack of lamb so unctuous, it had us questioning if we were still on Earth. Seared scallops to die for? More like a succulent serenade to the taste buds. The filet, darling, strutted onto our plates with such swagger, even wagyu blushed in inadequacy. And the salmon? Fresh as a sea breeze, it practically swam onto our plates straight from Poseidon's backyard. Let's talk libations – the Thistle, a bourbon concoction so marvelous, it's practically a potion of perfection. The blueberry mojito? Sipping it was like lounging on a beach in Maine, sand between our toes, and waves of flavor crashing over us. As for the grasshopper, it waltzed with our creme brulee in a dance of dessert divinity. Thistle, you're not a restaurant; you're a culinary wizard's secret lair. Kourtnee, you're the culinary sorceress who made our evening spellbinding. Critics, take notes – Thistle doesn't just serve food; it orchestrates an opulent ode to indulgence. Bravo, Thistle, bravo! 👏

A recent sojourn to Boothbay Harbor allowed for a full experience of the Thistle’s amenities. By the time I dropped my room keys into the decorative wall-mount at checkout, I was ready to make a stay at the inn an annual tradition. The lodging couldn’t have been cozier and more conducive to feeling a sense of privacy. This, even despite the bustle and din of the restaurant right underneath the room’s floorboards. The dining, by the way, was exceptional. The freshness of the seasonal ingredients and the development of deep, bold flavors were the highlights of the dinner menu and the brunch menu. Without question, what really set the Thistle apart from its most similar establishments was the level of hospitality and geniality I received from every staff member I encountered. That’s treatment that’s rarely experienced by a guest without so much as even a faint hint of insincerity in there at some point somewhere. Quite remarkable. Til next year, then.

We were disappointed by The Thistle Inn. At the time when the Delta infections are rising, it’s hard to understand how a responsible business would not require their employees to wear masks to show that they care for customers and employees. Tables in the dining room are very close together, there are partial dividers — that is nice— accept for the two tables that are just next to the main entrance. It makes no sense — hordes of maskless people are streaming by these two tables while they dine. Food and wine were yummy, but VERY pricey. Presentation was excellent! But the service was B-. Our server clearly had too many tables to serve. We had to repeatedly ask for lime slices for our water, my chowder was served with no spoon so while I was waiting for it, the chowder was getting cold. This place is listing itself as a “fine” dinning. While their prices are at the level of “fine dinning”, their services are not.

Do not stay here. The "Inn" is in disrepair. No innkeeper or staff are on the premises. It's all locks and codes. There is zero atmosphere at the Thistle Inn. | Pulling into the parking area we were shocked our GPS brought us to this haggard looking house. It's a sad house with no upkeep especially the exterior. ||The walkway is in disrepair, the exterior needs a lot of repair and paint. When you enter the house you see folding chairs stored next to the staircase. No decor or any welcoming sign for the guests. The steps and rise of the old staircase are pretty steep and downright dangerous. It feels like one has entered a shabby old house on the bad side of town. However, the room was clean, very small. The bathroom was larger and this too was very clean. The mattress felt firm but since we ended up not staying there I can't speak about the comfort. The TV had two remotes and it was difficult to watch any programs having to manage both remotes.| | We were in Boothbay Harbor to tour the Botanical Garden light show. After we did this we decided it was not worth staying at this inn. We felt it was substandard. It is attached to a restaurant it is not affiliated with. Information in the room stated we should park across the street in marked spaces. We saw two parking lots both across two streets as this is on a corner. Both parking lots were unmarked for cars so we decided to leave our car parked in front of the house. I think that is parking for the restaurant. We drove the 2 hours back home and decided to stop patronizing these small inns especially those with no...

We stayed at the Thistle Inn New Year's Eve. The room was "Victory Chimes". The room was near the side door on the first floor with easy access to the dining-room for dinner. The room was clean and the bed and linens were comfy. The natural light at the end of the day gave the room a soft glow. There was a coffee station outside our room. The inn was quiet and the check in/out process simple. ||New Years Eve dinner was a set menu. Upon entering we were greeted by the host who took a Polaroid photo of us as a memento from the evening. This was a nice touch!|||| It was a little more sophisticated than my simple pallet however I enjoyed each course. The steamed clams with seaweed butter and port belly were terrific. The lentil soup was very tasty and being Italian it is to bring you good luck in the New Year! The grilled winter squash salad was something I would not typically order but it too was good. For my entree i enjoyed the seared black bass. The whole Roasted Quail not so much! The dessert was chocolate bread pudding - absolutely sinful! The wait staff was excellent. Knowledgeable, helpful and very much a part of our experience.||||After dinner we sat at the bar and were completely entertained by the bartenders! We were showered with confetti and watched the bar tender create the "Flaming Lamborghini". A great dinner and stay at the Thistle Inn in...
