Greek International Food Market — Local services in Boston

I was so excited to go here because I actually really like Greek food. The selections were more than decent and the food bar was well stocked. However, the service I received from the lady checking me out…I don’t think I would ever choose to patronize their business again in the future. To be honest, she wasn’t flat out rude but she also wasn’t very warm. The persons who were cleaning and stocking the hot/cold food area was much more pleasant and accommodating than she was. Maybe she was having a bad day or another customer perhaps upset her but it would have benefited everyone had she just taken a break out back or walked the block before moving forward because she made the atmosphere feel really uncomfortable. As a minority I’m used to shopping in spaces where some workers are skeptical of my presence but this was a little more aggressive than it should have been. Especially when I’m picking up and paying for all things including a 30 dollar bottle of olive oil. Not saying that it means everything but it doesn’t mean I know what I’m doing in the kitchen and at the VERY least she could have struck up a convo to ask about my cooking plans to help calm her nerves. She might have even gotten a little jokey joke out of me to brighten up her day. Nevertheless, I’ll be looking for other markets to buy my specialty Greek groceries. Y’all this place is for you. I came in here clueless and I stated my situation to the owner. Long story short a friend’s family from Greece had just landed in America like an hour ago. After almost 2 years, they are finally reuniting with their father who has been alone in America running his restaurant and trying to make the best for his future and his kids. With that I decided to find a Greek market that will say hey you are in America but here’s some home away from home gifts.

The owner understood my passion and care for Greek family she had never seen before. She ran around the store picking items left and right, she worked with my price range, and put it all in sturdy, temperature controlled royal blue bag. She even tied a bow on it and put two evil eye pins for the 2 kids I was shopping for. No lie, that was an amazing response to my request. I am freaking blown away and I am so glad I came here. Wow, wow, wow. She killed it! even the other employee that got me the owner and communicated my situation correctly was a great and timely help.
