My husband and I went to check it out because this location used to be a coffee shop we liked very much. We did not have much expectations for the sushi when we walked in, but we were pleasantly surprised. They have quite a variety on the menu. Sashimi was very fresh and chunky. Quantity was more than what we expected, quite satisfying to us, and they certainly knew how to make sushi rice right.
We also noticed that all adults were busy cooking in the kitchen, rolling the rolls by the sushi bar, or serving the tables. The grandmother was in the back preparing takeout supplies. Both school-age kids were sitting at the corner doing homework, giggling, and snacking on edmame. It is a heartwarming scene of a loving, hard-working new immigrant family.
We certainly will go back to enjoy fresh sashimi and to support their business
-- above was written at our first time going to the restaurant. Yesterday, we brought two other couples there. Six of us all ordered different dishes, and every one of us was very happy with our choices, commenting on how lucky we are to have such a good sushi...
Read moreOverall the meal was fantastic, and I'll definitely return, but ..the ginger sauce had a little more ginger than I am used to. The salad dressing and the noodles were a little sweeter than I'm used to. I still really enjoyed my meal. I ordered the hibachi filet and a side of shrimp. My husband ordered spider maki and a California roll. The sushi was fresh and flavorful. The wasabi was a little inconsistent. We finished the meal with fried ice cream, a hibachi staple. Overall I would give this 4.8 stars. This is a lot closer to my home than my favorite restaurant, so I'll definitely return here more often.
The restaurant itself is very small. And because of that they can certainly offer multiple specials each day . It's about the size of a cafe with only 5 tables. Only 1 table can fit 8 people, the others are 2 and 4 tops. You can either sit and be served, or order from the menu or the specials boards along the counter There are only 4 parking spots, so you might have to park in the lot next door.

Read moreWhile the food is good, I have major allergen concerns here. I ordered a roll off the specials menu, which listed out all the ingredients. When it came out, it came covered in mayo, which was not on the list at all. When I asked about it, they said "not all ingredients get listed", which is unacceptable for a major allergen (egg). To their credit, they did make a new roll, but they also had to modify the crab, because that was ALSO mayo based (unlisted).
When a full list of ingredients are written out, it feels logical to assume that's complete, especially when others next to it specifically call out mayo as an ingredient. Had I done take out, how would I have ever know what id open up at home?
I like the quality of the food, but if you have any allergens, you absolutely have to be explicit, even if your allergen isn't listed in the...
